Not a bad signing. Really young rebuilding teams still need a veteran presence to keep them on the right path. Dude has been in the league a long damn time and can help provide a ton of insight and be an extra “coach” on the ice and in the locker room hopefully.
As long as the deal is 1 year I’m fine with it. I imagine he’ll be gone by the Deadline.

Not the biggest fan of Marc Staal the person, but I’m a fan of this signing. Need some kind of veteran presence to guide the young-ins and that money is about what you would want to pay for that impact. Move him at the deadline to a contender in need of defense depth.
Staal makes us worse. This is good. He will help the tank and be shipped at the deadline for a 5th.
