Making 4.7 and entering his last year of the contract

It would only be a 1.250m savings and would add to the logjam at wing. I’d rather wait until the trade deadline.

Dunno if that really does much to make our team better. Honestly I’m kinda down with letting our myriad of defensive prospects keep fighting it out for his roster spot and hang onto him until the contract dies.

Honestly, I’d Myers is in the bottom pairing I don’t mind his play. Obviously it’s an inefficient contract, but one of his problems has always been playing too many minutes leading to dumb decisions. If a trade isn’t going to add enough cap savings / upside elsewhere in the line up I’d rather just have him be an overpaid 5/6.

Small trash bag winger? Sounds like someone we’d be interested in.

Give us Logan Couture for 50 percent retained.

Should get a couple good years out of him still!

Or you know… Just Nico Sturm would do.

Just keep him. This trade makes zero fucking sense if true.

Sigh… Just let Myers play his last year. He’ll be fine as 3rd pairing RD. See if there’s better options near trade deadline depending on where we stand at the time.

Keep Myers, watch him play absolutely insane in his last contract year, just like Bo.

Totally fine with that deal, although it definitely requires moving one of Boeser, Garland, Beauvilier, Mikheyev or Pearson to make room for him… Which presumably they were already trying to do regardless with no success so far.

I doubt this is it because I can’t see any reason why the Sharks would do that.

Glad it didn’t go through then. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’d be surprised if he was unable to return a legit positive value asset (if underwhelming) at the deadline. I’d rather retain half and get a 4th than give him up for another winger

  13. Yeah no thanks. That’s a dumb trade for us. We don’t need anymore meh wingers, and Myers could potentially fetch a 1st round pick at the deadline. If Lebanc was making 1.25 then sign me up, but not at 4.75, we don’t need 2 wingers we can’t get rid of

If we buy out Labanc his cap hit is only $880k this year and almost $2 million next year.

So we would have $5.1 million in cap space this year!!!

Obviously, the additional $2 million will hurt us next year, but I wonder if we can use the some of the $5.1 million savings to mitigate next year’s hit. I haven’t figured out how to do it yet though.
