One could still argue that up to this point, even after this breakout season, Hayton was picked waaay too high, but this was definitely a bullet dodged (at least for the time being).
Let’s be honest with ourselves, Hayton is shaping up to be a career 2C/3C, which is great if he stays consistent, but he isnt the 1C he was drafted to be (at least on a playoff team when we get to that point).
I was pissed too though haha I remember the entire draft party got quiet and bummed out.
Don’t look at who was picked at 7th
If Quinn Hughes didn’t go two spots later, this would be something to laugh about.
Still fair to say the bashing for picking Hayton over Zadina was proven wrong, because he’s still the better of the two even if not a standout.
