    Lou will 1000000% outbid us.

Looks like the return for Ottawa is going to suck now.

Especially with the bickering going on through the media.

They need to move him asap before that Arb hearing kicks in.

Incoming three-way trade with OTT and TOR to bring Nylander here while sending picks and eating contracts.

Just kidding, but I can dream.

I don’t think we can compete with Lou doing an inevitable massive overpay.

  7. Hotel_Putingrad

All things being equal you’d think Dorion would prefer to trade him to NY.

What is a good trade at this point for him? Not that it’s related in any way, but Steve still hasn’t signed Veleno yet. I can’t see Veleno not wanting to play there either. It’s closer to where he’s from, played on the same junior team as Chabot and Joseph. Kubalik also has been mentioned by a small group of their fans as a guy they would take.

Curious to know what our offer would even look like. I had assumed our best trade asset for Debrincat was the 2023 17th pick (we were never going to part with the 9th). I’d rather not trade the Boston 2024 1st round pick, but I’d assume that’s the most likely centerpiece plus some prospects not named Edvinsson, Cossa, or Kasper.

Ok, but how the hell can NYI even afford him on the deal he wants? Is Lou going to find a loophole and sign him to a 16 year deal

Lou regularly pays for players without signing them long term and then they do later. I could see him betting on this, out bidding us, and then Cat refuses to sign long term anyways lol.

I wonder if they’d just consider trading « problems » by swapping him for Nylander and both teams hoping they can have better luck extending the other guy.

Just for the tension from all this alone, forget those two games this past season, Ottawa is my most hated team right now. I’m over it. Can’t wait for someone to fleece Dorion despite all his lying and I hope he gets sacked.

Lets go, bring our boy home!!!

Isles fan here, this is pure speculation but this is what I think is happening. I think Lou’s offer is currently significantly more than Yzerman’s but Debrincat really prefers to play for Detroit, his hometown team. I think Debrincat and his agent are using the Isles to drive up the price. Once Lou gets locked in on a guy he always overpays

Get it done and let’s go for a playoff spot. Time to start getting some playoff experience again

  17. Problemcharlie

Whether the Wings get DeBrincat or not I just want the ride over

  18. Isphet71

The Isles and Senators are both fucking stupid with the salary cap. I’m sure they will work something out that’s mutually destructive.

At this point I’m extremely doubtful that Debrincat gets moved. I would love to have him in Detroit, but this is really getting dragged out.

  21. jackstalke

I guess that’s pretty much that. Not sure I see Yzerman budging at all, much less topping Lou’s offer.
