yup… agreed.
I like to point out to people, that those 1980s Leafs teams were awful, but the players put in a more "honest hockey effort" by appreciating playoff hockey and the players on those teams were actually easier to get behind and cheer for. They had more playoff runs and more exiting playoff runs in the 80s than they have in the "Shanaplan era".
While I don't think the Leafs are going to be battling for a playoff spot I do hope they have to fight for their spot in the playoffs.
Some regular-season adversity would not be the worst thing for this team.

This is my personal opinion but I have never been more excited about the Leafs than I am right now. Comparing to the team that lost to Florida, I think Leafs lost quantity but gained quality. When was the last time we added two players who can put up between 40-60 points? When we got Bunting, we replaced Hymans production on the first line. The second line was always missing a piece and I think we finally got one. If Treliving isn't done and adds even more snot to this roster, Leafs aren't a team to mess with
theres no way to know until next year.. We have no idea what this team will look like and how they will perform.. Hell the might even miss the playoffs lets see next season and have this debate then?
Tampa changed their roster after a first round exit and then won 2 Cups. Leafs copying Tampa. The only concern is making the postseason now.

This current Leafs team is off to a good turnover to being better, but this turnover isnt done and until they play in the playoffs we wont know. We clearly need some turnover on D to be a desired Trev team.
It is hard to quantify however the team on July 2nd would beat the team from July 1st.
This is not a better team. This D is bad…and how well has Domi done in the playoffs? 6 goal in 43 games with 64 mins …didnt like Buns getting chased by the ref just wait lol. As well Bertuzzi played 7 games in the playoffs even with points he still lost. So PLEASE SOME ONE tell me how these two are suppose to help you in the playoffs when they couldn't do it elsewhere?

Agreed… Use the regular season to get experience for Knies, Robertson, Holmberg and some deserving Marlies like Abruzzese, Steeves, McMann, SDA, Abramov.
