That is a massive difference. Now after this season we need a total combined goals and +/- for all the previous wings for a somewhat more realistic comparison…. ^but ^not ^all ^of ^the ^former ^wings ^will ^even ^be ^in ^the ^nhl
I mean. Caputo is a dope and is citing +/- like that even matters at all. Of course players who were not on Detroit last year had a good plus minus, they weren’t on Detroit.
Bertuzzi and Vrana did not play full seasons. This is not the best argument to make. Vrana and Bertuzzi both have a chance to score 30 this year. I do like the moves so far this off-season. I agree we will have a better defensive team.
I don’t hate our signings except for Reimer, but this is misleading at best. Bert was injured half of the season and Vrana barely touched the ice for us.
If those two played full seasons, that goal differential probably wouldn’t be positive.
None the less, both trades were for the best.
This also doesn’t take into account that Joe Veleno is a shoe-in to score 50 goals this season
Pat Caputo doesn’t deserve to have his tweets posted here as content lol
All time: pick your stats to prove a point you’re trying to make post.
The only two goalscorers on the departed list missed almost the whole season and immediately got hot once they were off the Wings’ team. And almost all those guys who came in come from high ranking playoff teams, so of course their +/- is gonna be good.
Don’t think anyone is disputing that we got better defensively. By how much and was it worth the cost? We’re going to find out.
Do you know how math works??
Why not Fischer
I think this is a good black and white picture; this is the production leaving (even if injured) and this is the production coming in.
Plus minus is antiquated with all the fancy new metrics, but it’s still a valuable baseline stat. This picture says, the Wings *should* be improved next season
Zadina has not departed, correct? Cleared waivers, stays with team.
So few of the first list even played a full season, and the guys on the second list played for Colorado, Seattle, Carolina, Toronto, and Edmonton. Of course they had better +/-, those were all playoff teams. This is so bad lol
Yea we actually have some depth down the middle now to. Not very flashy but effective (:
Wow, interesting stat!
Seems kind of like a skewed stat when those players were on the Wings vs playoff contending teams? But I guess the point stands a little bit
This seems like a pretty good improvement.
People like to say that +/- is a bad stat, but I think it can illustrate things.
+43 because most of them played on good teams, plus 63 goals seems like a lot but Bert would have had half of that by himself if he was healthy
I can’t wait to see Kostin break out. I can feel it coming. Watch him turn into Tom Wilson.
This is how I’d imagine Pat Caputo using stats
Sounds like some moneyball shit
They are absolutely better in addition by substraction with Vrana and Zadina gone. Bert was injured most of the year and I don’t think his production in Detroit would ever go back to what it was here, maybe the Leafs have better luck with him. Erne, oersterke and Hagg have limited skill set. Suter is a good player, will someone like Veleno fill that role? With Sonny the question will be, did we improve with Klim?
Any Yzerplan doubters want to speak up? No?
Trust him lmao
I’m just hoping Gostisbehere can play well enough to net us a 1st at the deadline. Doubt Perron gets us that, but if he can too I would be very stoked to stack up those first round picks. Can never have too many.
THIS.

I feel like theres a better analytical take than +/- here…they played on much better teams, with much better players lol. Look at Helms +/- here when he was plaing with Pavel and Hank vs the bums at the end…its not an apples to oranges stat that you can just bring with you to a worse team.
An what were the teams like that they just left.
Seattle and Colorado are just a couple of examples. Wonder of wonder, players who played on good teams, had good numbers.
+/- can be deceiving and all these guys were on other teams for those goals. BUT I’m still excited for next season to see how it pans out. Plus there’s still time for trades that are waiting on other teams to sign guys and stuff
Bertuzzi scored 30 goals 2 seasons ago and put up 10 points in 7 games with Boston in the playoffs this last season.
Hronek finished 37th in the league in points for defensemen and only played 64 games. He finished the season +7 and had 4 fewer points than Seider who played all 82.
Sprong played 4th line minutes and scored 21 goals(in 66 games!) which is 1/3 of the total listed. I’m very excited for him but we’re also going to be his 5th NHL team in his 8 year career.
I like this
All these guys were either healthy scratches or hurt more than half the season, haha.
