Some people are just inpatient. They don’t understand how long proper rebuilds take.
He could have went out and got guys the last few years to just make the playoffs. That’s not the goal. The goal is championships. We have to build the farm system and get a big core of players. This takes time

Rebuilding teams should be tanking for high draft picks. This offseason the Red Wings got older, more expensive and not much more talented. Still not a playoff team let alone a contender, even if they still add Debrincat. They will be drafting 10th overall for the foreseeable future until the rebuild needs to be rebuilt again.
the cap era has made it very hard to keep players..especially if your bottom 6 player or players net you 20+ goals, the he becomes financially unavailable. the bottom 6 helps teams win…every team will get their top players, its getting those role players and keeping them that is very difficult.
The guy who controls the DRW is the guy who signs the checks. If Chris Ilitch won't let Stevie spend to cap limit, we have no chance at playoffs until he goes all in. Wish there were a lot more Russians at camp.
Bigger question: Is this team better than it was at the very start of last season? There is no Bertuzzi and Vrana to score 70 goals.
Perhaps slightly better defense. That's it.

This organization is where is was in the late 80s after Steve got there then they kept drafting then came the what I considered the trade that started the dynasty and that was the shanahan deal fans that’s where we are right now need to draft the pieces first then that trade will come but it takes time
Yzerman is still cleaning up the mess left by Babcock an his ilk.
We have some really well informed Wings fans AND we have some really well informed Pistons fans – and then in both fan bases we have some complete freaking idiots who have no idea about what is involved in rebuilding BOTH TEAMS from scratch literally.
