  1. It was inevitable that they'd eventually win. I didn't care if they or the Phanters won as someone has to win it and it wasn't going to be the pens…

  2. Considering how we got 66 and then 87 and 71 in back to back drafts due to some very bizarre rules due to the lock out I don’t think we have much ground to stand on to talk about winning Cups too easily. Especially when it comes to how the Pens are perceived by the rest of the league.

  3. It's been no secret DK wanted the panthers to win. Let's just be thankful he doesn't cover the Penguins this way because this is cringeworthy.

  4. I asked my brother last night isn’t it weird that they knew after 2 periods that they won. Seems less meaningful than a 2-1 game that came down to the final seconds. They didn’t play the last 10-15 seconds because it just didn’t matter.

  5. Can't think of any expansion team in any sport that's hit the ground running like VGK.

I think it's pretty cool actually–to carve out a fanbase in the furthest thing from a traditional hockey market. Congats to them.

  6. No Stanley Cup win to me will be more hollow than Patrick Kane's silent goal against Philly.

  7. Meh. just sounds like sour grapes from someone who picked the Panthers in 6, is a big fan of Tkachuk and kinda resented Vegas's quick expansion success. "They bribed themselves to a Stanley Cup!" Reminds me of the Flyers and Clarke complaining about the Penguins building their teams and winning their cups through tanking when they got Crosby and Lemieux, because when their obvious attempt at circumventing the draft process in stealing Lindros from Quebec didn't result in a cup like they wanted, they couldn't cope with their failed plan and needed to finger point.

  8. Why the Vegas hate? They are a well run organization the jack eichel trade was a great move by them too.

  9. Bruins fans have to be beside themselves with Cassidy only needing a new team to get his cup. Bruins fired him thinking a new coach would be the solution to put them over the top. Eh, wrong answer. Looked brilliant until the postseason hit. Sorta like when the 76ers coach Larry Brown left the Iverson debacle only to go to Detroit and win a championship in his very first season there.

  10. Being a new fan, Vegas has been here since the beginning for me and I have enjoyed the way they play. They are somewhat of a second team for me.

Regardless of whatever happened in the draft it's the fault of the other teams in the league that they got their pants fleeced off them. The NHL needed this.

Now Vegas has solidified itself in the hockey market for a long time. To me this is great for the game.

  11. Ah, the classic “you have to suffer for it” that The Hockey Guy has debunked a thousand times

  12. Not that I like Vegas winning the cup all that much, but it was nice to see Phil raise it again, even if he had minimal role in the playoffs.

  13. Vegas deserved it.
What's funny is that I guess Florida only had a hot goalie for awhile. One sided as all get out.
But I'm happy for VGK, especially Kessel and Eichel

  14. I'm happy for Vegas and have no issues with how they got here. Everyone else just needs to be better.

  15. Relevant tidbit regarding something DK goes on about endlessly: Bill Foley was not and is not a "Vegas Guy." He's just a guy who was serious about winning.

Remember that next time DK goes off on a tangent about the "Boston Guys." Commitment to winning is a hell of a lot more important than personal knowledge of the funnel cakes at Kennywood.

  16. Vegas fans got to celebrate almost an entire game knowing they won the cup.Just like us Penguin Fans got to celebrate 1991 first Cup 8-0 win over Minnesota no nail biting

  17. Took Vegas a few tries to get it right, and that community adores the Knights after the Vegas shootings. To win the Cup with all goaltending issues, they are well earned champs

  18. Why the Vegas hate? I was rooting for them from the moment they took out Edmonton lol. Phil and Teddy winning was great and I like Stone very much.
