I’d dare say they might have improved it. Still need help on D, but that 4th line, yikes…

I don’t really think so, we have an outstanding core and just need to support it with good depth pieces which is something JBB is historically great at. We overhauled our bottom 6 with defensively focused forwards and good pkers, something that we sorely missed last year.
We have around 5 mil to work with once Bogosian get’s (most likely) shipped and Myers gets buried, so odds are we’ll have one last ‘big’ move to make. It also, can’t be understated how much a full off-season could help this team, despite the career seasons for a few players there were huge stretches where players didn’t look themselves.

When you got three top ten players in the league and two more in the top fifty, you’re never out of it.

Vasy getting 100% automatically put us in cup contention.

The odds of the Lightning being a cup favorite should not be impacted at all by these departures. Most of the guys leaving had run their course in Tampa Bay.

Not by a long shot.

I hope it does.
We need to be underdogs heading into the season and the playoffs.
Then at that point, all we need to do is make it to the playoffs and I feel we will have just as much of a chance or better than any other team.

I’m only really concerned with our back up situation. I would love to have had Quick as a pairing with Vasy. The name we got tells me we’re hoping Alnefelt is ready to jump to the NHL and that is a gamble. But in Briseboise we trust!

So much of this depends on Vasy

depends on how many teams you count as « favorites » (top 3? top 5? etc) but i wouldn’t put more than 2-3 cores above tampa’s on paper. if hedman and vasy can squeeze out a few more years they’ll be around for a bit
