  1. Honestly, considering the circumstances Im surprised Ottawa got as much as they did. Stevie Y had Ottawa over a barrel. It was either make a trade with Detroit or lose him for nothing. Good deal for both teams all things considered

  2. ANTTI TUOMISTO. Should have been him instead of any left shot LD. The sens are overloaded with lefty LDs. At least the higher pick right shot RD ANTTI TUOMISTO would eventually have a place on the right side. No offence to Sebrango but any LD would have been a let down too. So its not him in particular, but any LD. He is stuck waiting behind Chabot, Sanderson, Klevin, and two more LD's Chychrun and Brannstrom (for now). I guess beggars can't be choosers. Pierre will be gone next year. New owners will bring in their own favs.

  3. I think its a win win. Wings get a goal scorer in their home town, Ottawa gets a first, kubalik as debrincat light which is better than a second, and a fourth. We liked Kubalik in Detroit.

  4. You mean confronting Yzerman. Unlike Tampa, Y has an opportunity to build a Cup champ in Detroit from 'scratch' and not wait 14 years like he did. Some gonads.

  5. Yzerman's vision is not only making the playoffs but making a noise in the playoffs, but we will see.

  6. Really good get back for Ottawa. Most especially for a player who said he is not coming back.
Detroit seems to get what they want.
Appears to be a win win. Most especially for Ottawa who had no real leverage at all.

  7. Everyone saying how great Steve yzerman is here is being kinda dumb. He literally had all the leverage. Even if he didn’t trade for him, debrincat was gonna sign there as a free agent next year anyway, he made that much clear.

  8. Don't let the door hit you in the ass, Alex. I hope Chucky crushes him next year. 😂

  9. DeBrincat scored those 40 goals season playing with Kane, so Wings fans I would no expect DeBrincat to score 40 goals playing along side Larking or Compher Lol, I think Ottawa did pretty good in this trade. Lol Let's go Sens!!!

  10. Being able to keep Mazur, Lombardi, Kasper, and Berggren is the best part… Kubalik is a nice guy and a good player but he can tend to disappear for a few games and he is replaceable… Sebrango wasn't really a top prospect, he could be a good defensive 6th dman sure but he had so many dmen ahead of him in the system with Edvinsson, Albert Johansson, Wallinder, Sandin-Pellikka, McIsaac, Anton Johansson all above him

  11. Just hours ago, Red Wing homers and media were booing Yzerman for not getting anything done.
    Now what do they say?
Yzerman has an apparent ability to get other teams to either overpay or accept less for a deal.
Its like watching a master of his craft.
This is the best part of a rebuild. Playoffs and cup runs are just the icing.

  12. Interestingly both players had their best years playing alongside Toews and Kane.
Cat has that Erie Otter chemistry with Strome that year too.

  13. Feels like Yzerman robbing people again. Time will tell, but Yzerman getting away with robbery wouldn't be a new story.

  14. Honestly, DeBrincat is a one dimenssional player and somewhat overrated in my opinion.

  15. Is Timo Meier Really THAT much better than Debrincat? Very Surprised Meier is valued that much more

  16. Asset wise SY turned an expiring Bertuzzi, a 3rd and a 4th into an EXTENDED ADB. Kubalik was a free agent acquisition at no cost and Sebrango was a 3rd. SY is a genius.

  17. So he wanted 8.8 he got almost 8 on a team contract that gives him chance to sign another good deal around that if he plays well.

  18. Dorion had no leverage, got rid of someone who didn't want to be in Ottawa, made room for another free agent addition (Tarasenko!?), got a quality and capable depth player and a first rounder and another pick as well. For what he had to work with, I am very happy with this

  19. It's a good trade for both sides, DeBrincat might turn it around or he might not, if he doesn't it's a costly trade for the wings, on the other hand the sens recouped the costs to bring him there and than some so good return for the sens.

I'm still not sure either of these teams make it to the playoffs though, just a rough division to be playing in.

  20. Who is that flying on a broom in front of the moon?
Oh, it's just Steve Yzerman, the NHL's non-binary witch.

  21. Glad they didn't give up Berggren as reported by some. Yzerman did well here by not giving up very much. I liked Kubalik but he did have spells where he went missing (and was scratched)

  22. Wings look set to make the playoffs for the first time in a LONG time while the Sens look like they'll need to rebuild their rebuild again.

  23. Someday there will be a movie made about what was going on with the Red Wings and their Czech players last season. There has to have been some kind of drama there. There just is too much for coincidence now with all four of them being gone in a few months.

  24. Detroit doesn't have any playmakers. I guess Larkin is a playmaker but he ain't no Patty Kane. Cat should have stayed in Ott and had Stutz pass him the puck. I see him getting 25 in Dtown tops next season. I'm not sure what Stevie Y's plan is. Find a Kucherov in the 2nd round and Cossa is going to be Vasilevsky part 2 and Moritz gonna be the Hedman of his. It's not going to be that easy.

  25. This deal for Ottawa hinges on Kubalik having a good year, and choosing not to test UFA. If Sens only get one year out of him, and lose him, Stevie Y ate Pierre's lunch. If he stays, it's a fair deal depending on how well Debrincat pans out.

  26. star power won't hurt the wings. they needed it badly.
but the Yzerplan is down the drain at this point. he's going all in for a playoff spot. the yzerplan failed so he's going to the market with cap space.

  27. I really don't like this trade at all… Kubilak is at a lower contract and produces just as much and is 100x more physical. I really don't like the off season here for the red wings.

Unless ADB gets 40 goals this trade is a Def win for Ott. Kubilak is easily a 25 Goals guy that is also physical… not sure if Stevie is in panic mode here or still in "rebuild mode"…. last year and this year shows me he trying to make the playoffs. Last year great, but this year is a huge head scratcher. Why not just get karlson like wow….
