No. This is not a guaranteed playoff team. The division is still very tough and their are several holes. This is not a too 10 first line. We will have to have all four lines roll to compete and maybe have a little luck. If they are playing meaningful games in late March, I will be happy.
This show is so negative. All valenti wanted was yzerman to be bold and here he is but it’s still not good enough. Yes the expectation is playoffs or bust but can we appreciate it for 10 seconds first?
A little harsh and unfair with Sebrango. That losing him in this trade is no big deal is more a testament to the depth and excellence of Detroit's LHD prospect pool than it is an indictment of Sebrango's game. He's a nice young D prospect; not flashy, doesn't put up gaudy numbers but very positionally sound and a good defender; probably an NHLer in a depth role.
I mean, sure it was a good deal for the Red Wings. But objectively speaking, even with Debrincat, this team is still in the middle third of the NHL… Lets be real. compare line-ups, compare rosters. Id be pleasantly surprised if they make the playoffs.
Playoffs won't be a guarantee for Detroit. The East is stacked with talent and a lot of rebuilding teams around Detroit's level also improved. Should be a fun season.
