As long as he is third-stringer it is fine. People getting upset at this are weird. Goalie’s good enough to be a starter or backup aren’t gonna sign up to be a #3. So you get the best of the worst you can for your #3

He’s awful

Meh another GTA guy that will threaten to retire if claimed on waivers, probably will fill the simmer role of staying with the team when paper transferred down to the AHL

Damn, that’s a grim thought.

We’ve got Samsonov, Murray, and Woll. I’m happy to hear we’re looking at Elliot, because it means there’s headway on Murray leaving.

Getting that late 90s/early 2000s feel where you wished we had a time machine for all of our 5 years too late signings…
Sirrebral99
Eric Kallgren replacement signing, wouldn’t mind it. He was serviceable in Tampa, and would probably only play a dozen games as injury insurance if needed. I’d do 1×1 year for him, veteran to mentor our two young goalies as well.

Who is Larry Brooks from NY Post and how does he know this before Friege and CJ?

I honestly thought he retired years ago

A Hometown guy, my hometown. He’s good 3rd or back up on some nights. I have no issues with it.
Coolsbreeeze
The only reason to sign him is for him to play at least 10 games, maybe 15 games. That’s 10-15 less game that Woll or Sammy would need to play and be even more ready for the playoffs. I like that idea.

Elliott is a solid person from my understanding.
He can help the young kids in so many ways. He’d be like a coach that can still play.

He’s a fine #3 goalie

I really hope Woll is allowed the opportunity to take the reigns of a NHL gig. He’s proven enough thus far.
Elliott had better be a third stringer insurance signing.

I guess if Elliott has no other NHL offers then the prospect of a Newmarket guy signing with Toronto might appeal to him. Even if/when he clears waivers and ends up with the Marlies, he’s still in Toronto. I can’t see the Leafs risking having Woll on waivers and Elliott could prove to be good insurance if either Woll or Samsonov gets injured during the season. He would be a good mentor for the young goalies on the Marlies too.

Anyone else get the impression that we’re signing extra guys just so they can be waiver bait?
Bobbyoot47
Assuming that the Leafs start the season with Samsonov and Woll the Leafs will need a serviceable 3rd goalie. There will be injuries in an 82 game season. None of the kids currently here or who are coming over from overseas would be ready at this point in their careers to jump on the bench for the leafs especially in the event of a long-term injury to one of the top two goalies.

We can probably do better for a 3rd goalie.
