Signing him to a 5 year is Absolutely stupid
I was a MP naysayer when we got him. But I felt like he has only improved every year and has solidified as a top 4 Dman. I hope he's healthy and keeps up that progress.
Okay..this JARRY situation…will not end well…the amount they gave him…over the amount of years???..Korpisalo signed for less, & would have been a much better option
The Pens need 2 solid years from Jarry, that's the Core window. Once the Core's ability falters it will be a complete rebuild and Jarry's contract will just be one more trade to be made.
Am I to assume this shoulder thing will be the new dead horse going forward used to explain everything when it comes to physicality or lack there of? Will this be the new Carter/bottom 6, stick in the mud, reiteratively insistent narrative that everything revolves around this season on Daily Shot? I'm bringing it up now hoping it gets attention and we never hear about it again.
It sounds like Jarry has a Funyun vice. Weve all been there, gotten over it.
The price was fair for the 12th ranked goalie salary. The term was what he would have gotten somewhere else. Not to have picked up Jarry would have left us in super-limbo. Sullivan likes him and was a huge influencer in this decision as Dubus arrived. He can be traded. There IS accountability. He can continue to get better. I think this is a solid and logical move.

Fair. I do like the guy. It's just weird to see him in the locker room on tv is all. You're there, I'm not. It's not personal, it's a logic problem – "Hey, here's an unlimited budget and the best nutrition and trainers in the world, now go put 10lbs of muscle on that guy over 2 years."

Really? Impossible? It seems impossible that that is impossible. I'm like Cal Naughton Jr. over here trying to figure out why Ricky Bobby apologized to me for stealing his smoking hot wife. I got a pretzel in my head that can't be undone with the words "shoulder width" because what the hell does that even have to do with anything, there are plenty of narrow shouldered guys and gals at my rock climbing gym that don't look like that, so what is happening. It really doesn't have anything to do with the player, the situation itself just doesn't make any damn sense.
Like Disney has billions of dollars and they make a crappy Indiana Jones movie. Really? It was IMPOSSIBLE to make a good one? But there it is.

I can see how Jarry might have been the best available at the moment. But for 5 years! To a goalie who has been both horrible and not even available in the playoffs to date?
Awesome DK. Five year contract, but is that what well get? In fairness to Jarry the defense needs to be better. Then the team will be better. I hope we don't see more 4 to 0 lead turn out to be a 6 to 4 loss. It was tough last season to get a grip on emotions. Thank you DK
Jarry is the same as Murray: made bank and then stopped learning how to make a save. I am still not sold on Jarry…no chance in the playoffs with him in net
I always liked to compare Petterson to fellow skinny Swede, Niklas Hjalmarsson, who played a similar defensive style.
I wonder if/when we'll learn what Jarry's issue was.
I have a lot of issues with my mother, and one of them is that she hates Petterson and thinks he's an awful player.
