  1. I agree. Probably gonna have to do a 8×8 and it’ll look fairly team friendly in a couple years

  2. Raymond hasn't justified an 8m Salary yet. Debrincat had done better than him in the same period, and still didn't get 8. Seider on the other hand is a safe bet for that haul and term.

  3. I don't think stevie will hand out another 8 year contract without Raymond proving he can be someone like Stutzle. Raymond is great but he had a down year and you don't normally give out an 8×8 for someone who hasn't even scored over 60 points yet. I find it far more likely him being offered a bridge deal, something similar to like Robertson and Debrincat.

  4. I’m much more inclined to lock Mo up asap. Raymond hasn’t shown he’s worth anything more than a bridge deal yet honestly.

  5. Raymond will 100% sign a bridge, unless he pops off this year then they’ll give him solid value

  6. Just take a look at what Larkin had to do outside of letting Steve plow his girl for 8milly. Raymond needs to pop off this year to get anything more than 2

  7. Not contract related but I really hope Raymond has put some more muscle on his body to protect himself more.

  8. If I were Raymond I would want to wait until next off season to extend. Dont forget Stutzle and Hughes are centers so they are worth more positionally. His worth is pretty much wrapped up in scoring and he hasnt proved enough yet to give him an 8X8.

  9. He will get something like 5 years for 5,7 Million
Seider will get 8 years for 9,5 Million

  10. I've been eyeing the 2024-2025 off season for quite a while and why I have been hesitant for us spending to much money that would be on the books when that off season comes. It's why I like the one year contracts. Not only Raymond and Seider, but also Berggren, and Rasmussen. All are going to be RFA's and are going to get a significant raise. I am on board with Seider getting an eight year deal. As for Raymond at this point I would rather have him have a bridge deal at this point. However if he end up putting up something like 30 goals, 45 assists or if he looks like he is going to be putting up similar numbers I would change my tune. I was messing around on Capfriendly. I got Seider at 8 years-8 mil cap hit, Raymond at 3 years-6 mil cap hit, Berggren and Rasmussen both at 3 years-2.5 mil cap hit. Of course those numbers could go up if they have a stellar year. With promoting a bunch of our prospects to the roster, I got about 3.5 mil in cap space. Of course that is with the cap staying at where it is. I keep hearing that the cap ceiling will increase significantly, that may happen, then again it may only increase a little bit. In stead of counting on it increasing I'll wait and see what happens.

  11. Pretty sure Raymonds a bridge deal as of now but this year will be his prove your pay year and as far as Seider goes, I read somewhere that he'll be willing to take a team friendly of $6.5mil. I doubt that's true but if it is, that'll be by far the best contract in the league moving forward. Yzermans a play your pay and is a master negotiater so I doubt Raymond will get 8×8. If anything he'll get an 8x $5mil if he wants term otherwise he'll most likely end up with a bridge of 3x $5.5 if he signs before the start of the season. Larkins contract is the base for signing. Youd have to be a 80pt player to match his salary while being a heavy locker room influence.

  12. Bro… You're Wrong on so much haha
Seem like a nice guy though

About only thing nailed was SY knows what he's doing and "yes" Cap is fine.

  13. I strongly agree on an 8 year contract but I don’t like the money, 8 millions is too much for me.

I noticed you only compared Raymond to centers. They tend to get more money since they are more valuable to the team.

Svechnikov, Keller, Farabee, Boldy, Caufield and Tkachuk are the bunch I would rather compare him with. Among those, Only Tkachuk got more than 8 and only Caufield and Farabee has performed worse than Raymond prior to signing their contracts.

7.5 by 8 is probably my highest and I would happily trade 1 year for less than 7

  14. Comparing Lucas Raymond with Leon Draisaitl and Jack Hughes to determine his contract is a bit scary. Really hope he has that same level of development that those two did so I can be wrong

  15. This really comes down to how Yzerman sees the “young core” he talks about which brings Mo and Berggers into the discussion as well.

  16. Just because other teams pay their players a lot of money is not justification for Detroit to pay the same. If Raymond was paid on a goals per game basis (40 goals in two years) he should get similar money to other players who have scored 20 goals per per year. Kubalik 20 goals / 2.5 mil for one year. Perron 24 goals / 5.15 mil per year for three years. And remember , Raymond plays on the first line and power plays. Detroit has no more 20 goal wingers. If Raymond played for cup contending team he would be a middle 6 winger at best. Detroit has made some questionable signings on current middle 6 forwards in the neighborhood of 5or 6 years at the 5 mil / 6 mil range. And they haven't scored 20 goals. So, in my opinion Stevie Y will sign Raymond for 7.1 mil for 6 years and offer Seider more like Dylan Larkin money. Steve Y needs to save some money to pay other up-coming prospects when their entry level contacts expire.
