Donc, avec la bande dessinée qui se déroule ce week-end, quels ont été les mouvements les plus héroïques et les plus méchants de Kent Hughes jusqu’à présent?

The Dach trade is a standout even though it gets discussed a lot, that turned out really great

Signing CC was also clutch, it might take a couple years for me to think of any moves as villainous tbh unless his recent top draft picks don’t pan out that would probably be difficult to ignore, otherwise I’ve been very happy so far

Hero: trading for Dach, and Newhook.
Villain: drafting Reinbacher (though I think we are all going to eat our words).

Yeah, this won’t cause any trouble…

The Jeff Petry trade – I remember a lot of fans didn’t agree with it because we also gave up Poehling, turns out it was a big W (also helped us re-sign Pitlick, though this didn’t pan out as expected). The fact that we didn’t retain salary on his nearly 7m contract is a W itself.

The Kirby Dach trade – also very discussed as we lost a fan favourite in Romy and a 13th pick, albeit in a weak draft year, which turned out to be speedster Frank Nazar. In hindsight, still a W, especially as we have a stacked LHD and Dach seems to be improving.

Not re-signing Drouin, a heroic-ish move – I feel like if we were with Bergevin, the guy would’ve gotten a 8x4m or something – a la Gallagher.

Having the balls to draft guys like Reinbacher or Slafkovsky when people expected Michkov and Wright could be seen as a villain move but only time will tell for these guys

Everybody here says the Dach trade was heroic but I don’t agree. Did you not see his smirk when the trade was annonced?? Diabolic if you ask me

    Hero:

Toffoli trade, getting a bunch of stuff in return for him. As much as I loved him, the trade made sense given the direction of the team. Plus, they got the Hutson pick in this trade which is icing on the cake.

Might be a hot take, but the Monahan trade. Free first round pick for an expiring contract? Hell yeah, plus he re-signed for way less so they actually got a roster player to boot.

Dach trade. Man looks good and he’s on a team-friendly deal to boot. Hoping he takes a step this coming season, he looks like he’s got some swagger back.

    Villain:

Newhook trade. I’ve said this before, but that trade is only bad if the Avalanche hit on the draft picks. Less than 3M extension and Colorado’s rep for their non-top 10 picks isn’t great. Hopefully he works out, but it’s jump ball as it stands.

Reinbacher. Admittedly, when they picked him my first reaction was “Who?” (I was on the Michkov train) but as they ran through what kind of player he is, my tune quickly changed. People forget that it’s way harder to get a good defenceman than a good forward.

My only hope is that they don’t invest too much in project players. The guys on SDPN were saying that if Montreal becomes the fuck-around team, they’ll soon find out.

    No villainous moves so far🗿

He’s been a hero all along

Martin St Louis hire. These tanking years could have been so much more painful, but he has been a gem that I don’t think any other coach could have matched what he means to the culture for our young team.

His worst move so far was to keep Slaf in the big league. Don’t want to get in a lengthy debate over this one and although hindsight is 20/20, playing half a season that was ended by injury can’t be seen as a good move by the organization, even if luck (partly debatable) played a factor.

  10. Yeah I think his best move was MSL. The guy is a breath of fresh air to this organisation that we haven’t seen since Demers (with a brief blip of Carbo). Also, I agree that Slaf shouldn’t have been ok the team last year. Not that I don’t like the guy, but a year in the A to get adapted to NA hockey would have been beneficial. But whatever, I like the FO so far.

The Monahan trade…..the value is still unlocking

Villainous was putting an unprepared Carey Price on stage for the Reinbacher draft announcement

heroic so far is a tie between petry trade and dach trade

villainous would be not managing the Monahan situation more carefully, letting him play when hes showing up to games in a cast is truly bizarre when he was playing like an asset that could recuperate a 1st at the deadline

It MSL for sure ever since he took over Caufield has been scoring every night until he was shut down last year and it is last year of head coach’s contract this year so if the players play well and the Habs move up in the standings this year Kent will keep him for sure
