It was always known he had some hands.
Had a few big seasons early in his career.

Depends on how you think he was actually rated.

Not hall of fame to me, not even hall of very good, but a very very solid player and probably a 2nd or 3rd liner on any team in the league, 2nd line easy in his prime.

NHL 13 dynasty was built on his back. Just zoom on the outside and cut in for a breakaway everytime

He’s not underrated. The dude played 15 seasons and had 174 career goals. He was a good middle 6 scoring option who had potential for a game breaking goal here and there. Also, it didn’t help that he played on Edmonton. Sorry, Edmonton.

I remember thinking of him as one of the best players in the league (in terms of potential) in the late 2000s… but he was just too streaky and too injury prone. I remember thinking him and Shawn Horcoff were going to be great building blocks for something bigger in Edmonton… that didn’t really pan out

He was unreal for Ottawa when we traded for him at the deadline that year. Was a pt/game for us for 20ish games, still barely missed the playoffs though. I remember him and Spezza having incredible chemistry, then they went to Dallas together and never really got it back.

I think most people just don’t realise how talented even the worst nhler is. Most of them can pull something like this, but aren’t given the opportunity against nhl level defense. Obviously he’s another cut above that just to find that opportunity, but not on the same level as the best in the league.

Very under rated. The guy was a dream on the ice. Kind of like Alex Mogilny
