Honestly, I would be fine with a one-year deal for him to replace Quinn in the lineup til he’s back. Oh? Kane also had surgery and is out on a similar timeline? No, absolutely not.

  2. I didn’t see « should » at first, and I felt a whirlwhind of emotions

A controversial player for sure in Buffalo, especially for a guy who has never played here. There are just as many fans who want the hometown kid to play for Buffalo as there are fans who never want to see him wear the blue and gold. But as I see it, there are going to be fans who hate Buffalo players for multiple reasons because that’s just what they do, so until he signs, this question is going to exist.

He is coming off a offseason hip surgery and that’s likely why he has yet to sign. I could see him rehabbing most of the season on his own and then attaching himself to a good roster that he feels could make a deep run in the playoffs. Buffalo is not this team right now but who knows how the season goes.

If Kane is still on the slidelines after the all star game in February and Buffalo is ahead of the curve, Adams wouldn’t be doing his job if he didn’t at least explore it. This is provided Kane would sign for just a season and the kids on the roster have not exploded. But a group of Mitts/Cozens/Kane in the playoffs could do some serious damage. Or maybe Kane is willing to play even less minutes and get down on the right side of Krebs?

I think it would be awesome seeing Kane in a Buffalo jersey! Realistically I don’t see it happening because I think he wants to win one more cup before he rides off into retirement and the HOF. He has maybe 1 or 2 more seasons left if he’s lucky.

Not that crazy a notion anymore with Quinn out but still lukewarm on this. He is still an FA though so signing him now would be waaay better than trading an arm and a leg for him 2 years ago.

  6. JMR027

No they shouldn’t, he isn’t great anymore lol

  7. Torrronto

Yeah, no. Makes sense from a writer’s perspective killing time over the summer, not so much irl.

If he’s unsigned come the deadline and there’s a spot for him… Who knows. That’s a bridge for another day.

He didn’t do great for the rangers, but I wouldn’t count him out just yet. Sure there’s a chance he gets back from surgery, and doesn’t perform, but there’s also a chance he could come back and have another great 3-4 years in the nhl.

I’m gonna go ahead and not read the article, yet still confidently say “No. No they shouldn’t.”

No thanks… maybe 5 years ago.. I would rather see a young guy get the promotion

The Patrick Kane of today would be like getting another Victor Olofsson, except is comes with a lot of social bagage of expectations and attention.

For the 4 millionth time, no

  13. GoJaysBlueJays

Buffalo should do it on a one year deal. Kane is a veteran and has won a cup. He’s a Buffalo guy and would add value on the top lines.

Buffalo would need to trade a forward for prospects/pick/goaltender depth to accommodate.

Dude doesn’t have functioning hips anymore. He got surgery that 50+ year olds get. He is done.

  15. HockeyGoalieEh

He’s the worst defensive player in the league, barely above replacement level as a whole, has multiple assault allegations, and isn’t getting any younger. He’s just not useful anymore.

  16. Neon_Sternum

This like when my kid keeps asking for something and I have to keep telling her no.

    It’s still a no.

  17. OpabiniaGlasses

    Absolutely not.

No one would even consider this if he wasn’t from Buffalo.

  18. helikoopter

Overwhelming attitude is “no”. But why?
