1. Matthews is going to leave a mark. Think 14.5. Goalie is going to be an issue. The cap is hideous. Spilled milk is not trading Marner, that time has passed. Shanny, blew it. Marner was always the asset to get a sweet return on. Willy is going to get his money, just not in Toronto.

  2. I said same thing when these contracts were initially signed the term was too short and walked them dangerously into free agency. Marner’s contract is too much for the term i at the time was guessing $8 or $9 mil Dubas caved badly. Nylanders $$$ I was ok with as I figured him to be around $6 or $7 at the time. Interestingly when the contracts are due to expire for Matthews and Nylander, that’s when Dubas “is not sure if he wants to continue as GM”

  3. I think leafs looking for 8 he wants 5 …just a hunch

  4. I see no way they can be under the cap to start the season if they don't trade one of the big 4 this off season.
Unless they let Samsonov go, put Murray on ltir and go with Woll and some goalie on a minimum contract.

  5. With this dragging on it makes you wonder if Matthew's is in no hurry to sign and will play out his contract and become a UFA. If that's the case then behind the scene Treliving is doing everything he can to get him signed and that could be why this is taking longer than it should, Matthews holds all the leverage here… Nylander will become a UFA he doesn't get what he wants. If the gap is too big then they need to trade him before the deadline, you can't let him walk for nothing.

  6. If Nylander is asking 10.5 right now, The Leafs should take it. It will only get worse if they wait till free agency.

  7. Brad could possibly get Samy under contract on a 1 year 3.9 million they are far apart on the arbitration numbers.

  8. What about trading Nylander at the deadline for a D/Prospects/Picks type deal and then they sign Patrick Kane to take Nylanders spot and entice him to sign by telling him he'll play with Matthews 👀

  9. Year after year has proven they can't get past the 2nd round with this main group.

The series against Florida showed they can't compete against a physical team. Escpecially their over paid fluff four.

Dominated four games to one with only max two goals scored out of the five games.

Changes to the four should of been made. Nylander for starters. Should of been traded for a stay at home denfenseman or a high draft pick.

  10. Kyper can stuff it , we can have whatever opinion we want

  11. The blue-collar guys come to Toronto and realize they can't even get paid a reasonable salary because a group of non-playoff, zero-aggression stars are hoarding most of the cap. So, of course they leave. They don't want to bust their asses for Matthews, Marner, Tavares, and Nylander, for half their salaries.

  12. The stupidest part of this entire negotiation is that Shanahan ran out after the playoff elimination and told the core 4 not to worry, their jobs are safe. And you wonder why the players act like children when negotiating contracts? Fire Shanahan and there is a way better chance to fix this team.

  13. The fact is Matthews has not signed on the line. The two sides obviously don't agree, but Matthews holds all the time cards now. This could turn ugly.

  14. this is the culture Dubas created. hopefully, Tree jumps the hoops and gets it all right.
