  1. The only name I've seen mentiined in a trade is P.O. Joseph but I didn't pay much attention because it didn't come from DKPS. Also agree with Letang. Great shot DK.

  2. Doesn't it still at the end of the day come down to karlsson? I feel like him staying put is the most likely scenario at this point

  3. I like the team as is. Karlsson would be fun on the powerplay, but I think petry for two more years is actually safer, and he looked good with MP when he was healthy. He knows the system now and should have a better over all year. To me, the big piece that needs to be settled is grandlund. Decide if he fits and if not buy out. Moves can be made during the season and the trade deadline. See what this team can do with put giving up too much for a forward that plays defense (only as a position)

  4. Ever since the Penguins were linked to the Karlsson rumors I've been saying here that they would have to give up more than salary dump level players like Petry and Granlund…two players that if the Pens don't want, why would anyone else, let alone a team trying to start fresh like SJ? Since July 1st, Pesce was linked to any deal coming out of Carolina, and I said it would take at least Pettersson for the Penguins to get Karlsson, especially after the Canes signed Orlov and have more flexibility on the blueline to move whoever they need to to get it done.

Now that Deangelo is a Cane again (BTW: great work by the Flyers on that total cluster F), they almost have to move someone. I think at this point it's a lock for the Canes to land Karlsson. Throw in the fact they are better prepared and more realistically capable of winning a cup that the Penguins are, and not only can SJ get more of what they want, but so does Karlsson in his desire to get to a team that can win it. Of all the teams rumored to be linked to Karlsson, the Pens have the lowest odds to win another cup in EK's remaining years.

If the Penguins did include Pettersson in any deal for Karlsson, should anyone be surprised? He was nearly on his way out before last season before the trade fell though. It's obvious that potential trade had Sullivan's approval, and look who has even more say in roster decisions this season.
