You gutta use common sense here. Nylander has a 10 team no trade list. Youd have to immagine the lower teams are on there. Now He my want to go to San jose if its strictly about te money. San Jose can afford to overpay him once they move Karlsson or even keeping Karlson, The sharks have alot of money coming off the books next season. Signing Nylander to a 8×10-10.5M would be easy for them.
However, it really doesnt make sense for the sharks to get Nylander unless they plan on retooling instead of Rebuilding. however I expect them to rebuild.
A Place I could really see Nylander going.. I was thinking Detroit before they got Debrincat. But another place i could really see is Chicago.
They have a TON of money coming off the books next season , theyre essentially GIVING money away just to hit the Cap floor this year to players like Perry and Foligno. Perry is maybe a 2.25M player allday long on any team , they sign him at 4M.
Same with Foligno. any other team theyre offering him 2-2.75M over 1 year. Chicago goes and gives him 4mil.
BOTH those contracts are coming off the books next season when Nylander comes up. And they have something crazy like 31M coming off the cap next season so I expect more of the same next season. Overpayinng players just to hit the floor while they build around Bedard. Buiilding up draft picks weaponizing their cap room to get picks to build around Bedard.
I could EASILY see a Nylander to Chicago.. And I could see him potentially wanting to go there.
He would be playing with Bedard, and Chicago would easily offer him an 8 year 10.5M Contract.
IF which I dnt see Nylander being traded at all. However I could see.

being the two main pieces of any trade. Obviously the blackhawks would have to add there. However I like Murphy. plus hes controllable for the next 3 seasons at 4.4M at 50% 2.2M Having McCabe at 2M and Murphy at 2.2M would be Dynamite for their cap situation. Giving them extra cap space to go out and get a guy to replace some of Nylanders production.
Here is the ONLY WAY I see Nylander being moved and this is the ONLY type of package im even considering moving Nylander AT ALL as he is a 4+ goal scorer now and hes produced in the playoffs as well…
Nyander for:
A Legit Top 2 Big Tough Minute eating RHD who can easily play 21 Minutes a night can Block shots and maybe PK or PP. With 50% retained.
A Legit Consistent 25-30 goal younger Top 6 RWer. on a team friendly controllable deal.
now thats alot to ask for with 50% retained so depending on who these players are could always add to Nylander. Leafs do have players like Robertson and Niemela as well as a first that would be good sweeteners.
The Types of Defencemen I would want back in a William Nylander deal:
Colton Parayko
Connor Murphy
Mackenzie Weegar
Jaccob Slavin (The MCCabe to the Right)
Those are really the only defencmen in the league Id be hunting for Nylander. 4 of them. I know alot of people are saying oh get Tanev or Zadorov. Well IMO you dont have to give up Nylander a 40 goal scorer PLUS a legit top lie player for a lower tier defencman as the main piece. I really think by moving out a contract like a Calle Jarnkrok and COnnor timmins to other clubs or whatever then [paying a little extra to have a third team retain 50% on a Zadorov , 50% retained on Zadorov is well below 2Mil. like 1.85M and you could get him by trading Calgary either Liljgren, Robertson, picks, Niemela, etc etc , they should not begiving up Nylander in a trade for Zadorov. Theres a way to keep Nylander AND add Zadorov OR Tanev
