I mean. He’s not wrong. Good that they know that and can focus on building something.
I mean…..it’s the Canadiens.
They can’t even spell Canadian right, how can they possibly think about the playoffs?
Habs must be one of the youngest teams in the league this year and that alone makes it a real challenge. If a star goalie emerges, some of the D really gels and the offence stays healthy they could be a playoff team but it’s a long shot.
Of course they aren’t ready, no one is. Playoffs are months away
I’m fine with this, and appreciate his honesty on the expectations for this year. Tampa was slow to build and Colorado was slow to build. I really hope Slaf can take a big step this season
He’s not wrong but I think you just sit on that and don’t say anything. Your players are listening as well as the fans. You need to show confidence and not honesty

I like the honesty but at the same I wouldn’t like the honesty as it would kill my hope.

Being in a good division and conference, the habs are getting less points every year than they would anywhere else. It’s perfect to re build a team because it means that you get better draft picks, which is a good thing if your not going to the playoffs anyway. Eventually the good teams right now will have to re build and then the habs will be good in a bad division. That’s my guess at least

Entering year 3 of the rebuild. My expectations are to be a lottery team, picking anywhere from 1 to 10. That’s what we need.
Entering year 4, I expect the team to start turning the corner. Slaf year 3, Guhle year 3, Reinbacher in, and a few key free agent signings. Not a playoff team, but fun and competitive.
Year 5 playoffs.

All fans ever really asked for from Habs management is tranparency. This is pretty transparent.
I think most people think the Habs will be better, but it’s still unrealistic to even think about competing for a playoff spot.
