  1. So be honest, are the Jets last to give them as long as possible to potentially trade a certain goalie lol?

  2. Tanked after the trade? Hell, they were in a playoff spot early with a 11-6-5 in their first 22 and then 7-11-2 for the next 20. They haven't even started to trade yet! Yzerman saw that his team was barely winning games against playoff teams. They played against a lot of weak teams to start the season.

They had a good start last year… They won't have an easy schedule to start this year. So yes, will tell us where the Wings are at on how they perform early on.

  3. Detroit fans are by far the most delusional. Many of them believe they have a shot at the playoffs next season. Truly something to behold.

  4. We will make strides again, this year. But, I don't see us making the playoffs till 2025, honestly. As you said, quick start, is key. Not only blue line, needs and will be improved. More vital, is having more then 1st line. Do must of the heavy lifting. My opinion, from a long time fan of the team.

  5. Wings are gonna sneak in the playoffs this year, lose in the 2nd round.

  6. The Wings are building a team that needs to be more than the sum of its parts, and that's what a coach is for. If Lalonde can build on the good foundation he gave this team last season, we won't need another superstar forward or a top goalie tandem.

I also just look at how many players have room to improve or contribute more than we got last year. Raymond and Berggren are growing, Seider is already so good at such a young age, Rasmussen and Fabbri being healthy would be a huge help, Copp and Compher can both be really reliable at 2C or 3C, Sprong can score with minimal ice time, and who knows how good Larkin and DeBrincat could be together?

I understand why people mostly think we'll be below average, but I think they're just looking at the team on paper. But I see tons of potential.

  7. Slow steady improvement. Dang near a completely new team about to take the ice. Will be fun to watch.

  8. Most people forget that Cobbs slow start was a result of Core surgery right before the start of the season. Not a easy thing for an athlete to come back strong from.

  9. Some wings fans are starting to forget how much an tire fire Steve inherited and the fact they got not luck in the lottery

  10. Detroit took the Kraken approach. A lot of good above average players, but no real superstar. They went top heavy on offense which is why they won't get far. Their defense (Holl & Petry, really?) and Goalie tandem are terrible

  11. great breakdown as always. as a detroit native and fan, they will make progress towards the playoffs this year, and either squeek in or get pushed out by washington rebounding a bit. i think their greatest weakness now is at goalie, and i dont think they a great up and comer ready yet (cossa) and their back up leaves a lot to be desired. one injury to husso could be the death note to the playoffs.

  12. I'm with a ya Shannon, the goaltending just isn't there with this team, Husso's great 2021-22 season looks like a fluke in hindsight.

  13. I don't understand how more than 60% of viewers found two Atlantic Division teams they expect the Wings to finish ahead of; at least, not with that goaltending.

  14. Great video! Super informative & gettin me fired up for the season! Training camp will be here before we even realize it!

  15. The new Motown music will be the sound of posts being hit by Larkin and Debrincat!

  16. As a fan starting with the Original 6, back in the day, even if you weren't a fan of the opposition team, you did have respect for their talent. That led especially into the playoffs, when if by chance your team didn't make it, you had a solid second team to root for.

  17. With so many changes they'll be lucky to get off to a fast start – if they do then hats off to the coaching staff.

  18. So.. should I invest in a Bally's Detroit sports subscription this year or wait and see if Bally's folds?

  19. Ahh NHL coming back up again. Time to hopefully see a new Ducks season arise. Will have to fly back to Anaheim from both Nevada and Japan to see them play! Even though I live part-time in Nevada, I'm not a VGK fan.

  20. Shannon is now a Wings fan, through and through sold into the Yzerplan and HockeyTown! And he loves how good he looks in that Winged Wheel!!!

Oh, and we have the best commentary in the sporting world with Ken and Mick.

  21. Thise Devils comparisons…
I mean, somewhat valid. But New Jersey had Hughes and Hischier. It was a question of time for them to start to be the formidable 1-2 punch down the middle. Wings kinda don't have such prospects. Raymond and Seider are cool, but they aren't 1C-2C.

  22. impressive numbers by larkin, seeing that no one else was close to him

  23. The front-loaded home schedule is a double-edged sword. Slow start could be a dagger in the heart of Yzerplan 2019 and have Wings' fans dreaming for return of the Holland-Blashill dynasty.

  24. "Adding Petry, Holl and Gostisbehere" will hopefully relegate Chiarot to the press box for most games this year.

  25. Ive been watching Hockey since early 70's. As a Laffs fan, I find it frustrating to realize that the Wings, who were enemies, have torn down and rebuilt about 4 times, while Toronto has never completely torn down & rebuilt properly in 50 years. The results speak for themselves. Id take an 8 year laps anytime.

  26. Can't wait to see the posts stat for each team. Seems like Nikata Kucherov had weeks with 10 posts or more.

  27. Husso is fine. I'd have to agree that he's not up to snuff for a playoff goalie. That's not where the team is at though

  28. Husso was overworked. The two back ups were less than stellar.

  29. Ah finally- season previews.
I can already see the leaves changing, taste the apple cider, and feel the crisp cool air while gazing at clear blue skies!

  30. I’ve followed the Redwings since the late 80s with Klima, Gallant and Coach Demers. After the Lemieux hit on Kris Draper I believed they were just never going to win anything. But 4 cups later and I believe in the Yzer-plan and go Wings

  31. My disapointment wasn't that Yzerman sold, it was that the team told him they weren't ready when it really seemed like they might be. As far as what's happened since the sale, it looks VERY good. If they aren't ready to make a run at the playoffs this year, I will be worried. Yzerman has done a good job clearing out the excuses for losing. Graph go up good.
