Hagel wasn't drafted by the Blackhawks he was draft by the Buffalo Sabres
Maybe stammer pulls a Bergeron and signs for a dollar.
He was my favorite hawks player, Im happy he’s doing good in tampa.
Finally some good news from Tampa. Been a lot of lost this player news lately from them.
What do you think the term and AAV would look like on a Stammer extension?
Very hard worker slotted right into the void left by Palat's departure. Was drawing a ton of penalties but seemed to be getting a bit of the Bunting treatment towards the end of the season with Refs looking the other way.
Well im thrilled with this He is a very imporant part of the Lightning going foward.
6.5 AAV? I guess Tampa couldnt haggle it any lower….
"Proactive" is the right word. 1.5 good seasons but I am not insulting the signing, this is par for the course in the 2020s NHL.
Killorn 2.0
I think something Hagel does that goes over shadowed that you began showing is his defensive play. If you look at this play offs and the previous year, Hagel was almost always on the ice to face teams top lines. Perfect example was against the leafs. More or less any time Matthews was on the ice, so was Hagel. Pretty sure the only time Matthews scored against them when Hagel was covering him was either after a long shift or a bad line change.
It’s a fair contract for what he did for us last year, and amazing term length. Any Bolts fan will agree that if he keeps developing at this pace this is a great deal for the franchise.
6.5 seems a couple million too high at least
6.5 for a half a point per game player dayum lightning are losing their touch
Tampa makes any move at all
Hockey fans with recency bias who prey on the downfall of successful teams:
“wOW tErRibLe mOvE”
Tampa is a smart team and they generally have the receipts to prove it (as long as they aren’t negotiating for Tanner Jeannot, apparently)
I really like this signing ! Not overpaid , very underrated player, I bet hawks fans looking back regretting that deal lol 😂
How is this a good signing? This is wayyy too high for his productivity or lack thereof.
Blackhawks are my team and Hagel was already my favorite player on the team by the time he left. So happy to see that he's getting the recognition he deserves
Gotta love good old Hagel the Bagle! Very impressive start to his career.
This has the potential to be a massive contract steal like Marchand or Nylander where it ages like fine wine and pays massive dividends. The fact when he isn't on the scoresheet and still is all over the puck and play of the game speaks volumes to Hagel.
Don't keep doubting the Lightning, still a ton of great players locked up ⚡️
I'm from Buffalo so Tampa has been my adopted playoff team for a long time now. I think with some of the "mature" vets the Lightning couldn't keep because of the cap, that this is a top notch signing! Hagel is a really solid top/maybe middle 6 guy, but he plays a fairly complete game. I do think he is one of those players who will out play his contract.
Hagel is Brayden Point lite (right now). His ice time and stats will only get better. Yes, great signing
Love this move, glad to have him around and officially add him to the core
Excited for this signing all we need now is the season preview!⚡️⚡️
Can they afford stamkos if the cap doesn’t go up a bunch?
Well deserved extension, GO BOLTS!
I like Hegel, but right now I am in SOS mode-Save Our Stamkos
Man, I'd love to know where to source that hat
Solid player. Solid contract.
Hagel going to get as much point as Mathews' last season…at 6.5 mill nice deal for both parties.
Unlike Mathews this guy hits and blocks shots… LoL
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm 90% sure he was drafted by Buffalo and then let go as a UFA, you can talk to Jason Botteril about that one
takeaways are just one player stealing the puck from another?
lol. I thought that was supossed to be Jeannott's contract.
Everyone in the replies is giving this guy high defensive praise… he was on the ice for alot of goals against in the Toronto series.
Thats my boi Hagel!!! Get that bag; you deserve it. <3
lets not forget…Hagel also knocked out Patrick Laine in a fight 😂
With the cap going up, that contract could age pretty well!
Drafted by buffalo 2016 another Murray Gaff.
92 takeaways last season. Guy has a lot more to often then just putting up points.
One down one to go time to extend the captain
Is he 3rd or 2nd line?
8 years too long
THank you for your hard work Shannon.
NOOOOOOO I was hoping deep down he'd return to the hawks. Best of luck to him. I believe he will become a truly great player in the future.
Hagel was actually drafted by Buffalo and also played at a habs prospect camp before signing with Chicago. Miss him but that trade is working out great for us
This contract is going to be a steal in 3 years. People have been grumbling about Cirelli becoming a Selke guy forever and then Hagel comes in and show him how it's really done. That top line of Hagel/Point/Kuch is gonna wreck teams for years to come.
Hagles life is about to be so good. Lives in Tampa making 6.5 million per year tax free while playing a sport he loves. That’s a dream
He was drafted by Buffalo
Lets gooooooo
