  1. Remember when Russian goalies were a knightmare in the NHL? How much influence did Khabibulin winning the cup on youngsters wanting to be there too? So many great Russian tenders in recent years.

  2. To me it depends almost entirely on Laviolette. If he can get this team into a working system, they could go far.
With Gallant there usually was no plan or structure it felt like. Especially in the Playoffs this year.

  3. I think they can get over the top. The talent on this team is immense. Shesty, Panarin and Fox alone can get bad teams in to the playoffs and you haven't even added Krieder and Zibanejad. Laviolette is a defensively minded coach so Shesty between the pipes and a tighter D, I expect Shesty to be lights out.

I was definitely a nonbeliever in Kakko and Laf, but their digging in to their 1.9 pts/60 all situations is nearly the same as Lucas Raymond (2.1) and Raymond has end of the year points do to deployment (averaging 19 minutes a night & PP1 time vs 15 minutes & PP2 time). It took Hughes 2 seasons to figure it out, I think these guys can make the jump eventually if Laviolette gives these kids PP1 time.

However, its the hardest trophy to win in all of sports so a lot of things need to go right. I'll be there at the garden a bunch this year as always so Lets go Rangers!

  4. I expect the Rangers too fall back a bit. But love watching Shesterkin play. My current fav tender in the NHL.

  5. They're almost certainly going to make the playoffs and be somewhere in the mix of 1-3rd place in the Metro. It's anything goes when it comes to the playoffs in this division though, especially if a more complete team wins the wildcard spot.

  6. They can win but they have to want to win a cup rather than just wanting to play as a Ranger. (Making millions and getting to play in MSG)

  7. Love this team more than any other in NY. But I look at what Drury’s done this offseason and it’s a patch job. I like how all the departures were rentals, nothing too major we departed with… but the replacements of those rentals are old and questionable. PROVE ME WRONG. LGR

  8. It comes down to 2 things in my eyes. Is Laviolette going to be better, worse, or the same as Gallant and can the offense perform better in the playoffs so they don't have to get carried by Igor? I think they may go backwards a little bit, but comfortably in. 3rd in the Metro with 103-108 points.

  9. I love Artemi, but if he disappears in the playoffs again I would find a way to try and move him to free up the cap space to reconfigure. As to whether or not LAviolette cna get more out of this collection of talent than Turk…I have doubts and I don't expect them to do much better or be more consistent than they were last year and I don't expect them to really do any better. I don't think Laviolette will get the kids tp really produce at the levels we all want them to and I have no reason to expect that our veteran core will do any more than what they have shown in the past seasons. I think we are a really good team…that is not good enough to win the Cup.

  10. “Fox is also very good in his own zone”

Ondrej palat has entered the chat

  11. surprised he didnt hit on the "kid" line as much. I think they need to be the difference makers here. Imagine if Chytil kept impressing, and LaFreniere and Kakko started to really produce.

  12. They need better 1C than Zibanejad. They also lack depth on the RW – hope Kakko gets the first/second RW position to thrive (the other first/second RW being Wheeler). Overall Chytil, Kakko and Lafreniere need more ice time imo.

Then there are the brutal contracts but that’s for another day…

  13. In terms of the regular season, Rangers are basically the same team minus Blais, plus Wheeler (Teresenko, Kane and Mikkola were late additions). This should be an overall improvement. It’s also noteworthy to mention Loviolette replaces Gallant.

  14. Seems to be a team that's been really good and is going to be very good for the forseeable future. Well run, really. Im sure they'll snag they're per-decade cup sometime soon.

  15. As an isles fan it will be an interesting year for the rangers. Much like us, it comes down to goaltending. I think the devils are the best team in the area with the isles and rangers really close to each other. Should be a great season.

  16. I'm hoping we do well. You mentioned it before, but it will come down to grit and working hard. The defense stayed tough, but the offense looked too timid to win a series. Igor needs some help.

  17. I love THG, but not excited about the breadman slander. I know a lot of Rangers fans are not happy with his post-season performances. Add me, but the guy has absolutely earned his money for his duration in NYC. For me, it seemed like the whole team (except Shesty) were kind of in chaos in the NJ series, I blame Gallant for that. I like Lavi, but not sure he can get this team going. I'll be pleasantly surprised if he does.

  18. Great blue line, the one that makes 8 million is prob the 4th or 5th best on most nights

  19. same regular season . make a harder push in the playoffs . going to be fun to watch the rangers this year.

  20. I think they're going to have the same issues again this year, lack of scoring depth, they'll be a fine reg season team that will sink in the playoffs unless they fix this over the season.

  21. The Rangers should have more Cups than they do.
That being said, the Rangers are their own worst enemy.
I expect more of the same this year.

  22. This last season hurt. Was hoping for a few more goals from the kids, and a but more physical play

Though I’m scared for the league since we have Brayden Schneider turning into another trouba train.

  23. I am hoping for a great season this year. I do not know if I could withstand another letdown.

  24. How many more teams in the Metro does Laviolette have to coach before he has the Infinity Gauntlet?

  25. I thought Rangers were gonna go far last season. They looked like a really tough team to play against all season. The Devils wanted it more.

  26. The rangers just want to see their drafts be busts? Getting someone like asshole wheeler there wont help them develope.
