  1. I think Barzal and Horvat are going to both have big years. If they're both around PPG players, and Sorokin continues to be Sorokin this is an 100 point team

  2. As long as Sorokin is there, they are at least a bubble team, I think they come just short of the playoffs this season, not because they'll be worse, but because Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Ottawa will be better.

  3. Islanders are cheeks. Carried further than they belonged by Trotz's boring style that made them unwatchable and made management think they could skip rebuilding to compete. Now Lou is actively screwing them over handing out 7-year contracts to aging guys who don't move the needle. Have fun wasting Sorokin's career in purgatory Isles fans.

  4. They had immense success under Barry trotz, best coach in the league

  5. Their power play absolutely killed them last season. It's been bad for a while, but especially last season. Even strength and short they are one of the better teams in the league, they just need to start converting with the extra man.

  6. There are a lot of things that if they go right could make them a better team than last season. A full season of Barzal playing with a settled in Horvat could be something pretty special. I think Dobson could take another step forward after a bit of a step back last season and become an even higher scoring defenseman. I think Engvall could fit in well here and become a better offensive player. I don’t see him becoming elite or anything but I wouldn’t be shocked if he got 20 goals/40 points. The key could really be Wahlstrom. If he can finally break out into the scorer we’ve seen glimpses of this team is going to be much better.

  7. Found the Islanders incredibly boring too watch every time I've seen them play. But love watching Sorokin in net.

  8. Lambert opened up the offensive at the beginning of the year and it was a disaster. Then injuries hit the team. The Power Play is why they fell short last year. Pelech and Pulock need to play 82 games, and Horvat and Barzal need to click on the power play.

  9. powerplay's been so bad for so long, I'm thinking that'll only change once the roster looks very different.

  10. The Islanders play a Nashville system, so they can probably learn about what happened to the original Nashville team. Their top players are in their 30's or approaching their mid 30's, so I'm not convinced their game's gonna get better next season, and team's not really that good to begin with…

  11. I am a huge Islanders fans. Very disapointing of Lamoriello jobs cause it seems that he always trade his first draft pick to sign aging players to long term contract. I hope I am wrong but I think it's gonna hit the team hard in the long term to not have good prospect. The goal is not to make the playoff but make this team win another Stanley cup.

  12. The defense and Sorokin is what gets them wins. With the core sticking around long term and other teams making moves, I think they'll slip put. They'll be in the race though. 5th in the Metro with 90-95 points.

  13. Delulu Lamoriello and his long-term contracts are going to bury this team at some point soon. They'll be battling with the Penguins for 4th in the Metro this year (at least that's what I expect).

  14. I'd like to see Barzy and Horvat play together. Barzy got hurt right after acquiring Horvat

  15. I think they should let Lou retire. He stabilized the franchise but it's time for some new blood. Also, like you said, let the players play, take off the handcuffs.

  16. I loved Lou for a long time as a Devils fan and i think he did some good things for the Islanders but i think its clear its time for him to retire. The league is a different thing from when he was at the top of his game and he refuses to adjust
