    >It’s likely that Fenway Sports will launch a direct-to-consumer service around the Penguins, especially considering that NESN launched one around the Red Sox last year. But nobody is prepared to offer specifics about how a Fenway Sports-owned RSN will look in Pittsburgh.

    PLEASE

  2. Rook22Ti

Cool, they should kick the Pirates off since they made it clear they wouldn’t front any money to get a service going.

I’ve wanted to give the NHL $150-200 a year for Center Ice or whatever it’s called now to watch the Pens, and they won’t do it. I am practically begging to give them my money, and they refuse.

Direct to consumer Pens games ? Sign me the fuck up immediately

  4. red_87

Assuming this will be direct to customer base, no blackouts, and every Penguins game for a fee?

I mean, I know many were skeptical initially but with the off-season moves of firing Hextall and hiring Dubas and now this, FSG has won me over. I’m all in on them. Maybe I’ll sour on them like Red Sox and Liverpool fans have but they’ve really done a lot right so far.

  5. Hiding_Meatball

Just for clarity. The Red Sox specific coverage is 30 dollars a month. Will pittsburghers pay for it?

I would not miss the Pirates at all. Sports in this city end once hockey is over and restarts once training camp begins in Latrobe.

I live in central PA which means that the street I live on has the Philadelphia broadcasts, the street next to me has the Baltimore broadcasts, and my friends 3 blocks over have the Pittsburgh broadcasts. I have to illegally stream every game I want to watch. Please give me DTC!

  9. hammertown87

Wait people in Pittsburgh can’t watch penguins games on tv?

  10. alsonotbannedyet

Dear FSG – I’ve said for years, I will happily pay $150 bucks for a streaming service that is just 82 regular season pens games. Sign me TF up.

Any Canadian pens fans know if this would even be available to Canada? Would be nice but I’m assuming Roger’s will want to maintain their monopoly in Canada on NHL rights

  12. gbgpensfan

So there’s rumors they’ll do a streaming service too.

I wonder if that would be with keeping it on TV locally? cause the only reason I use Directv stream is to watch the steelers, pens, panthers and even the pirates.

  13. hovix2

I hope there’s still a cable option for local viewers, but we’ll have to see.

  14. hokahoka

Fuck it, we’ll do it our*selves!

    (Our rich FSG dads’ selves)

  15. TremorChristPJ

So would the only option be to psy for the games or can we still watch them as part of our cable package once the deal goes through? Sorry if a dumb question.

  16. BippidiBoppetyBoob

Since I haven’t been able to watch the Pens on TV outside of national games in like three years, since I’m a Dish Network household, will I now be able to watch the games on TV, or am I still blacked out?

  17. NorthFirefighter6864

Shut up and take my money already

  18. dudditts

Hope they tell the pirates to fuck off or sell the team

  19. BlindLantern

It just suck having to pay to watch my team. I buy their merch, I buy their tickets, I spend gas and money on food at the arena , take time off work, drive 2 hours to get to a game, and still have to pay to watch them on tv.

  20. I_argue_for_funsies

Ppl in here need a lesson in VPN usage

Please, dear God, no! This is our chance to go to over the air TV like Las Vegas just did. Cable already dealt a devastating blow to the Padres as their RSN collapsed. They’re just the first of many. Get this team on local TV and cut the cord. Let that cable network die. A DTC service that’s separate from the TV deal would still be great though.
