Super obvious answer for the top spot, tbh. How could it be anyone but us?
* Everyone knows the year of their last cup win
* Everyone knows the insanity of the media market
* Contracts expiring for 3/4 of the core 4 (ty matthews extension for not making it a clean sweep)
* The team just fired their wunderkind GM under dramatic circumstances
* President of Hockey Ops has been around for a decade with minimal playoff success.
* While they finally won a round, the round 2 performance really didn’t make that achievement feel like « enough »

Which teams have more established cores than ours and been as consistently successful in the regular season that still haven’t won the Cup? There’s not many lmao
Edit: Carolina is getting there soon, but they’re a bit younger than us
The Rangers only got really good in the past few years because they just recently got this core, but their core is older than ours, so soon they’ll join the list too, can’t imagine their fans were happy with the blown series to their archrival Devils lmao
The Oilers are certainly there too. McDavid and Draisaitl are Marner and Nylander’s co-draftees. Nurse even older, Hyman in his 30s soon, Kane too, Ekholm in his 30s, Campbell in his 30s. If they don’t even make a finals with McDavid, that’ll be talked about for decades to come.
The Panthers will also get there in the next few years, this finals run buys them more time, but their core is older than ours as well

Eh, I’d say its Edmonton. Our window is confirmed open for another 5 years at least, while they have to do something in the next 2-3 before Drai and McDavid leave.

I feel like the Leafs are always under so much perceived pressure that it doesn’t or shouldn’t actually matter

I think we’ve been under pressure since 1967.
