Biggest thing that jumped out to me is definitely Gonchar + Sedins running the powerplay to start the season, then it’s PP1’s show.

I’m glad he didn’t really blame the players who are not in town yet. It’s easy to forget we don’t have a practice facility and Rogers Arena is not always available or is under construction.
We know guys like Quinn have all the facilities in Michigan, I imagine Boeser too should have all the ice he wants in Minnesota
Sedins working the powerplay and all is right in the world. PK should improve a ton. Big season coming.
Also, Tocchet lives in Vegas? Who woulda guessed.
I’m glad to see that the Sedins are running the power play. The Canucks power play has been very predictable for a long time and hopefully with the Sedin twins running it we see some improvement.
Sedins coaching the powerplay be like « just tap into your telepathic connection with your linemates to make a blind tape to tape pass… I don’t see why this is so difficult for you »
That was a great interview and refreshing to hear. He seems dialed in and I like that he gathered his staff in Whistler and even went back home after (that can be inconvenient). I love the idea of the Twins and Gonchar running the PP as they were part of very elite PPs. Also like that Toch’s been in touch with key players.
But what I love most is his mindset that he’s placing on the team. “Are we willing to be uncomfortable as an organization to get to the next level?” “You’re tired of losing, but what are you doing about it?” “What are you doing to change the narrative?” These sound like questions my therapist asks me lol – but what it does is empower the players and reminds them that *they* can control their outcomes.
How do you break out of a slump? You focus on what you can control – success is the byproduct of consistently “doing the right things”.
Super happy to hear the Sedins are going to start coaching the PP. If the PP and PK improve this year then maybe we stop blowing so many leads and make the playoffs.
