Please tell me this is a joke.

    Second round= 2 more years.

If they win a cup under him he may never be allowed to leave

Wow the leafs never learn. They’ll probably buy him out after this year’s disappointing finish.

Life long Leafs fan here. 20+ years. There’s a reason why we’ve seen the best Leafs teams in franchise history the last few years. Of course we have some top end talent but there’s been massive system changes which is all Sheldon and his staff. The Leafs have been very impressive the last few years compared to where they were before Keefe took over. Obviously not looking at playoff performance but IMO the faults have been 100% on the players not on Keefe. Looking forward to what he’ll do without the Dubas cuffs on!

Keefe is a good coach. This extension was necessary and expected. Keefe likely won’t be the Leafs coach come the 2024 season.

    All three are true.

That doesn’t mean he will be the coach for two more years, just that they will be paying him. Remember, they just finished paying Babcock who hasn’t coached there since November 2019.

Change almost nothing, expect different results.

    Right move.

If they wanted to fire him, he’d be fired already.

With the amount of money Toronto has, extending Keefe doesn’t prevent them, at all, from firing Keefe later. It just provides Keefe with some financial security.

No sense bringing him back as a lame duck coach.

Mere months before they fire him

If that makes him sleep better at night then so be it, but remember, no one’s job is safe!!

I don’t think Keefe is a good coach for this NHL team.

His record shows he was clearly great, coaching, leagues comprised of players, that were younger, less experienced, and not rich . It seems clear that he is intelligent, and knows what to do to succeed.

    But,

MOTIVATING a collection of athletes, who are well aware of ur NHL lack of experience and success, who have been playing much longer than you have been coaching in the NHL, who make a tonne more $ than you, who are in a dressing room that is allegedly fractured and selfish, in a city where are the players/team are practically worshiped & might the us have egos etc to match; he’s not the guy.

These guys play in a city, but after making it past the 1st round, engaged in a celebration worthy in many another NHL city, only after a cup win.

They need more than an expert advisor on how to improve both individuals and as a team. they need more than a strategist and intellectual.

They need a person who actually dig into their soul, past all the BS, and lead/force them to manifest being the best they can be & thus so too the team.

I love ’em, despite the psychological damage they have inflicted on me over the years, but these dudes need a boot camp general who doesn’t give AF about all the surrounding BS/add elation/ego/etc as part of their coach.

In a way, they’re a bunch of spoiled brats.
They need a coach they fully respect, and one who can crack the whip when necessary.

    Cool

    Anyway 😂😂😂

Bro has been the winnigest coach for the leafs in a while. Top 5 in the league since he took that spot from Babs. Just get it done in the playoffs this year for the love of all that is holy 🤣
