1) the Coyotes actually dont have space in the lineup for a guy like Phil at this point. Yea, he is a great locker room guy, but the ice time is better served developing the future, especially with leaders like Bjugstad, Zucker, etc in the room. Again, love Phil, but dont think we would (or should) go for him, or that he would even want to come here.
2) whoever signs him (if), if i am the GM, it is on the understanding that we are not playing him the first game of the year. Even if it isnt something he cares about, the iron man streak will do nothing but cause undo distraction and potentially handcuff the coaches. Look at Philly and Yandle. They were stuck playing him waaaay beyond when they should have, because they were almost beholden to the streak. End it now, and let him be a complimentary depth piece that is in and out of the lineup, and a specialty on the PP.
