  1. Just changed the title, I apologize to anybody that thought he actually signed. I didn’t realize how that one would look popping up in the notifications lol.

  2. It all depends on how much Kane is given to come to Detroit.
His presence and experience has value and Kane would have to be in a supporting role and back either Raymond, Larkin or Debrincat.
Would he be worth it at his age to put him in an active line up is the real question.. WHO would he replace?

  3. I think he wants to win though…he cant play 1st line minutes and can really only be ultized half the time on the top line and fill in more the midddle 6 role with potential to play on top line obiously but no way he can log in 18min….
Buf, Nj, or Min…most teams csnt even afford a 2mil deal…highly doubt he gets more then 1mil…
No way Det makes playoffs this year. If they do they just gunna get a wild card spot….you got…Nj Nyr Car Pit Nyi Fla Tb Tor Buf….i exclude Ott and Det because they still have holes in the lineup…VGK and Fla made playoffs without a clear cut #1 goalirle so i csnt reallt factor goalies anymore….hellebuck, gibson, and sarros def top 10 goalies and dont make playoffs…Edm made the playofds without a #1…I remeber 10 years ago you needed a top 5 golaie and now its like irrelevent….shows how much skill has been developed and showcased….

  4. people keep forgetting he's only one year removed from a 92 point season. this past season he was injured

  5. Kane signing with the wings in my opinion would be HUGE for the organization as a whole. I been a life long wings fan growing up in michigan and I'm fully in support of stevie going for him. Even in his regression over the years it's still no doubt patrick is one of the most popular players in the league and to me that could be a major positive in almost every aspect of the team. Of course Detroit isn't really in any need for a boost in attention cause theyre still one of the more popular teams in the NHL but with Kane I could see a boost in ticket sales, merchandise sales, and overall TV viewership just because of the name. There's never an issue with gaining more money cause it can boost everything with the organization on and off the ice. Even if his performance on the ice would leave a lot to be desired I still see it as a net positive for an on the rise Red Wings team when it comes to overall team attention and the mentoring of younger players so if Detroit goes for it I'm all about it

  6. For what it's worth, the Daily Herald is a fairly large news organization whose publication serves the Chicago suburbs so you can probably put at least a little bit of credence to the source.

  7. As a wings fan myself I wouldn’t mind a 1 year deal to boost the middle six. That being said, we already made many signings this year. We have a log jam of players at center. One year would be fine, but two I would question.

  8. On the surface it seems like a pretty good idea, for a short term deal it’s a pretty favorable risk/reward. But then if the whole point is to play him with cat, you’re either playing him on the first line where cat belongs, or you’re playing cat on the second or third line where Kane belongs. So I don’t really know the answer there

  9. The possibility that Patrick Kane could sign with Detroit this season. Imagine Raymond learning from Patrick Kane. He would be the perfect mentor. DeBrincat Larkin Kane
    All-American line would be sick.

  10. Kane can help mentor the Red Wings on burying any locker room distractions to make sure the team is focused on making the playoffs.

  11. I could see Dubas getting him to sign in Pittsburgh for third line center for $1 million.

  12. I think if Detroit signs Kane it gives me the same vibes when Ottawa signed tarasenko. Short term deal that’s big enough to put them in wildcard conversations. Odds are they still wouldn’t make playoffs but I think they would at least have a small chance. Nothing is impossible in this sport.

  13. I could see Kane going to the Devils or Sabres think Red Wings make sense for the Wings but does Kane prioritize playing with ADB over another good shot at a cup who knows

  14. Kane had a down year but a lot of that is because Chicago was trash last season. I’d take him on the Wings for a one year deal

  15. i doubt Kane is worried about going to a contender. he has 3 rings. i think itll be more about where he wants to go and who he wants to play with.

  16. Ive beensaying play the young guys for 5 years now. But we are close now I can feel it lol and Patrick kane is my favorite player since he played in London. Get him, play him with alley cat and D-boss and youve got a legit top line (ignore last year) he was traded from the shithawks (Trailer park boys reference)

  17. considering the wailing and gnashing of teeth that would occur in Chicago is enough reason for me to say yes as a Wings guy

  18. Kane has some speed. It's always good to have speed. As a wings fan I hated the guy. But if he wants to play with another ex team mate. That has Chemistry. Bring him on…

  19. I say why not? As a Red Wings fan, what do we have to lose? If he's good and we miss the playoffs, he's trade bait. If he works out, he can bring not just a winning culture, but possibly more big name free agents in the future. I think players are hesitant to make a jump if they don't see other good players going to a rebuilding team. Him signing here would be a really big stamp of approval.

  20. As a Wings fan, I'm a hard NO in 2023, however, if he hasn't found a spot by Jan. I would circle back around to the idea if the team was in great playoff position or if Debrincat was struggling.

  21. As a Hawks fan, for some reason I’ve never really hated the Wings. Still wouldn’t feel right seeing him don the winged wheel. I’m hoping he signs with Buffalo or circles back and takes a minimum deal with the Rangers.

  22. If the rangers move Barclay goodrow, I think it’s a definite possibility of him re-signing with NYR

  23. As a rangers fan I’m hoping we can get him back but I seriously doubt we can make that happening with a cap the way it is

  24. I want to see my team get some wins and keep progressing towards cup contention. If Kane can help with that then fk yeah bring em on.

  25. Although I wish he would, Yzerman would not do this unless Kane agreed to a Hossa type contract of a million or two for a year but he would be a fool to do that because there are teams that will offer much more.

  26. I think it would be gr8 to see him play with is hometown even tho like u said he fit good on almost every team😂

  27. If Big Daddy Kane comes to the Wings and plays like he did when he scored his first playoff goal as a Ranger last season, then I will be a happy man.

  28. It would be a good move for many reasons but only 1 bad reason. 1- We have the money
2- He is still very good
    3- Power-play
    4- could trade at deadline
    5-Make Red Wings better
The only reason I wouldn’t want him is it keeps one of the young guys out.

  29. Even if he does it'd be mildly interesting at best. Brady to Tampa this is not

  30. Similar to how the Wings got 3 good years out of Brett Hull in the late stages of his career, I feel they could also do well with Kane in the same manner.

  31. I'm a Wings fan too, and I don't think it would make a lot of sense for Kane himself. I don't know why a guy in his situation wouldn't gun for another Stanley Cup every year, like what Cory Perry has been doing
