He's proven himself I think these playoffs. Even when he is not scoring he's impacting the game. Great leader, seems like a great guy, smart and humble and in control, has the respect of his team. I think you're right about the respect he gets depending on the market he plays in. I live in Dallas and people care way more about an unsuccessful cowboys than a SC final Stars. I think he's a future hall of Famer. Top 3 stars all time, probably number 2. End of next year, seguin will be top 5 stars all time.
Jamie benn has taken a lot of heat because he doesn't win the art ross every year. Stars fans expect him to be a 100 point player, but the great thing about him is he isn't because he does other things like hits and fights. He is a phenomenal leader in the 2018-19 season he was on pace for his usual point pace of around 80 but the stars were still a bubble team and needed that push. The head coach at the time Jim Montgomery asked him to take a checking role and he played on the THIRD line. This allowed roope Hintz to play on the first line with seguin and radulov and benn's point total dropped and hintz emerged and became a huge reason for the stars success even now. People don't recognize that, that is what a captain does and the head coach now, Rick Bowness, has said over and over again he does so much off the ice and before games to lead this team even during games on the bench

Jamie is a great cap because he is skilled and is a tough guy who fights anyone if he has to, that s cap, he produces and fights if need be , he sets an example, this is how you play a game to win, that is a cap
