> “He’s in Vancouver, he’s skating, he’s going to take part in training camp,” said Dhaliwal. “I’m not sure right now if preseason games are on the menu for Ilya Mkiheyev.

Pre-season starts in 2.5 weeks Sept 24, first regular season game is exactly in 5 weeks with the home opener vs Edm on Oct 11.

Doesn’t matter. He’s probably slow now.

Hopefully he isn’t too far behind if he misses the preseason, I would say last year it took him around 4 or so games to really get it together. I think we have the wingers to carry the load while Mikheyev gets back up to game speed, it just sucks that he hasn’t had a full training camp with us in two attempts.

Is Pearson more likely to be in the opening night lineup than Mikheyev? It’s hard to tell how healthy Pearson really is, but I’ve seen videos of him skating with the team.

I like the fact that the team is making sure they’re not bringing him less than 100%.
They have to send Pearson down to the AHL to be cap compliant if he’s healthy, so this actually gives us some time to show Tanner off and perhaps move him to another team for a player we can actually bury in the AHL without seeming like insensitive assholes.
Would love to keep Pearson for this year but tbh its just not in the cards without a 2.1m+ player going on LTIR.
