Wings fan here, Mantha was my favorite player and I’m still upset he was traded!! Think he didn’t have extra motivation and something to prove tonight? 6 shots on goal(!), Goal, and an assist; robbed like crazy by Elliott on one. People keep saying Detroit fleeced Washington because of the draft picks, but I’m telling you there is a reason his value was that high. You’re about to see him thrive and tap his true potential in Washington!
I don't know why Detriot fans are hellbent on insisting they won this trade. You have to actually use the resources to assemble a team then maybe you can qualify the trade as good or bad. Acting like your GM is some genius that he pulled one over Washington is a bit over the nose. I know you guys have been deprived of good hockey lately but celebrating a trade and a potential draft picks that's going to be lower end of first round is downright pathetic. Last I check you guys picking in the first round hasn't been that great of a rebuilding plan so pipe down. Y'all don't think Mantha is good or consistent enough, so be it. One man's trash is another man's gold and we think we can have a better use for him than Vrana or the lower picks that won't be in NHL until maybe 4 years later. We are trying to have one last hurrah before we bid adieu to generational talent like Ovie.

Hated to see him leave detroit, but we will start to see his true talents in d.c.
Anybody that think caps got fleeced are all wrong because Detroit got a first round pick in a weak draft class that will most likely be between 26 to 31 to swallow panik contract and the second round pick in 2022 is obviously because Mantha is better than vrana and he's big and physical and can play offensively and defensively which vrana can't do. Caps still got plenty of years of control over mantha and that extra cap space will serve well to resign ovie next year
He's going to thrive there after playing in Detroit on a talentless team. I'm following the Caps just to watch him shine now.

These type of sniper shots are well within his range. Mantha definitely is playing with a roster of bigger players around him, with that in mind he got the space he needs for this shot and takes the focus off of him as defenders pinched down on him a lot while in Detroit.
Good luck to him will miss him in Detroit but business is business I guess
