I like to hope so too but I’m not holding my breath here unfortunately
I just want him back in some way.
Avs management is just “hoping” he can play again at his normal level at some point ever.

It will suck if he never makes it back.
If not, glad the last time we saw him play was laying it all out to win the cup.
That blade block/missing blade assisted scramble to the bench is an iconic Avs moment.
as long as he’s healthy enough that he can come away without anything lifelong. i miss gabe as much as the next avs fan does but i’d rather him sit out the playoffs than risk even the remote chance of him worsening his injury.

I hope he skips the year and takes the off-season to recondition and get back into playing the quality hockey we know he can play.
Everything I’ve read about this surgery says it takes a really, really long time to heal. That would be amazing, but I am very skeptical. Lonzo Ball doesn’t sound like he’s close and has already been ruled out for 23-24 and he had this surgery earlier than Landy did.
Even if he could be healthy for playoffs, which we all highly doubt, that would be 2 seasons of no hockey.
Not many people can step on the ice after 2 years of no competitive hockey and be ready for PLAYOFF hockey.

I think most of us have daydreamed about Landy coming back in April 2024, but I read the article and it was a throwaway line. They asked, he said he hoped. I very much believe Landy will be back but I dont want Avs fans quoting this article in 6 months and being like « where’s our captain? » This is not new news, just a GM hoping his best LW comes back.
Oh, what I wouldn’t give for this to happen. It’d be so awesome if he showed up like Gandalf at the end of Helm’s Deep and led the team to victory.
Won’t be salty if he’s never coming back onto the ice. Man brought the Avs a cup. He can sail into the sunset if he wants – I won’t hold it against him.
