Curious to see if Staple will be double shifting, I think technically he was in charge of « NY Sports », not just the Rangers

Always seemed likely. Curious to see who they get next.

Who says we don’t make good offseason moves?

Good. He sucked. He was the least interested about reporting for the Islanders as I’ve seen any beat reported and it showed. Also, he was primarily a shit head on Twitter.

I think at this point, it’d be a good thing to have no Isles coverage on there.

    1. It’s a difficult team to cover because Lou doesn’t engage much with the media and Lane is basically a low-energy mime when he speaks. It’s hard to get content from unwilling people.

    2. It’s basically a pissing contest on there between the one toxic positivity troll who defends Lou like he’s Lou’s relative and the rest of the fans who want Lou brought to an assisted living home and locked in the pantry.

Most of the content on there from the national hockey guys takes potshots at the team as well and always claims we have no prospects, etc. Meanwhile, George, Maggio, Dufour, etc. are pushing their way up to a team that has no open spots. I don’t think it’s as dire as some of them claim.

Don’t cover us. Let us go about our sleepy, boring business while operas are written about Laf, Kakko and the Maple Leafs.

I got the feeling he didn’t want to be here

I liked him better than staple. Staple would put our maybe an article a week when I’m paying to read about this specific team. At least kurz would put a lot of content out. Hopefully the next writer does the same.

I miss no sleep til Belmont. Hopefully the next beat writer does a similar podcast

Good, as long as we actually get a beat writer. He was so bad. So obnoxious.

Through The Island Podcast nailed it: « The nicest thing I can say about Kevin Kurz is that he put in a “2011-12 Brian Rolston” level effort into his time “covering” the team. »

Maybe Josh Bailey can be the new beat reporter?

This sucks because we might lose full time coverage.

Don’t like Kurz so I’m fine with him being off elsewhere, will admit that I thought he got things mostly right from the playoffs through this offseason though with fairly measured takes.

Might be nice if Staple actually had to live up to his title as New York reporter rather than just being a Rangers beat guy. Doubt it’ll happen, but it’s absurd that he hasn’t written about the Islanders since he moved over but is still listed as « Senior Writer, Islanders & Rangers ».
