I mean, this is how it’s been for ages. Local networks get exclusivity rights, it’s the incentive that sells their network. They say right from the start with this service that it’s for out of market games.

Can’t watch the oilers pre season games because it’s either only on the oilers website( and a monthly fee) or it’s blacked out

Hey, the microwave display shows up in HD. I’ve had it for years, it’s easily the most reliable way for me to catch out of market games. And it fucking reheats pizza!

I find it ridiculous that in BC I can’t watch a Flames or an oilers game (not that I want to) on Sportsnet because it’s blacked out. I live in BC so surely I’m not able to go to the game. Why are they blacking these games out unless it’s a national game night? I get when a game is blacked out for a home team if it’s not sold out and they want more fans to show up. But in today’s day and age there shouldn’t be any blackouts. Period.

Why do they do this? Why can’t I watch a game in my area? I don’t understand

It’s so crazy how in a world that is all connected now, we are making efforts to localize content. This whole broadcast system feels so due for an overhaul.
