Sign me up for Coghlan. Local kid with decent size and puck moving ability. As it’s mentioned, he’s been part of he Vegas and Carolina systems where the depth has been ridiculous and hes been a victim of the numbers game as far as getting a legit shot to play some serious minutes. Well worth the gamble IMO.

The team I would really keep an eye on is Nashville. Barrie, Schenn, Carrier, Fabbro, Livingstone are all RHD.
Specifically Carrier.. he’s played top-4 minutes in the past.. coming off a down year.. could be the odd man out.. 1 year left at $2.5M. Undersized but under rated.

Kovacevic got a lot of praise in Montreal last year for being a stabilizing force. 6’5″ 26yo intelligent RHD could be a decent match for Hughes at least in the short term until Bear is healthy or something else materializes.

If anyone is foolish enough to waive an NHL-ready RHD (probably the second most sought-after position these days after C) then there’s probably a long lineup of teams making that waiver claim before we get our shot.
I’d love to see it happen, but the odds of improving our RD on the waiver wire are incredibly slim.

Nope. Everything is fine.

Pretty, funny, this guy made an article entirely because of harmal dayal talking about this on SN650 yesterday.

A bad RHD d-man is not better than a mediocre LHD playing on that side

From waiver wire to top pairing with Hughes? Lol. Sure hope not.

Isn’t Soucy going to be with Hughes?

Florida *may* expose John Ludvig
He’s a big, good skating and physical (enough) LHD
He was great in the WHL.
He was great right off the bat in the AHL.
Then he had injuries that have derailed his career but he has a legit shot at being a top 5 d-man.
Yes, i know we need RHD’s and not LHD’s, but if he’s exposed, i’m putting in a claim.
I’d even look to see if we can work out a trade for a similar player, and if not I’d glady pay a 5th or lower for him.
He’s a Tocchet type player. Id love to see what Gonchar and Foote could do with him.
Remember Cole only has a 1 year contract (and is 34). We will need to replace him. This is a great guy to groom into that kind of role.

Timmins would be a great pickup and I’d say worth even a late-round pick to skip the line and guarantee a pickup.
Of course if it’s worth it

We turning off the salary cap like in we can in EA NHL 2023 now?
