Regardless of the order, it’s pretty wild that they snubbed Toronto/Edmonton

  2. GroundbreakingAds

As a very avid Detroit fan, I’m not sure I can agree with us at 4 yet, although I’d be floored for them to be that high, need our prospects to play real seasons first before I’m convinced

  3. AintIGR8

In 3 years MN is out of cap hell

  4. Kangarooski57

Wow Red Wings are probably the worst one

  5. chowmushi

    Columbus ahead of Toronto Edmonton?

  6. ElGooodHombre

Whatever ESPN, we don’t want you anyway

I’m guessing whoever wrote this thinks that TOR/EDM will not figure out how to support their superstars with solid 3rd/4th lines and D pairings with the reduced bankroll they will have left after paying McDavid/Drai/Matthews/Marner/etc. and that some of the big names could go to other teams. If they said this in a 5 or 7 year scope, I’d be more likely to agree, but given that TOR/EDM are likely top 5 this season, it’s hard to think they would fall off that hard in the following 2 seasons.

Kinda weird not to see the Oilers on the list or any Canadian team.

  9. yodazer

Devils and Canes I can believe.

Sabres and wings, while should be improved, havent made the playoffs yet. I do think they improve to do so, but making it to 3rd and 4th is going to be tough. 3rd I’m going Toronto. 4th I’m going to say Avs.

Kraken is a bold take at 5. This should probably be Edmonton/kings/Golden Knights spot. I’ll say golden knights since they just won the cup.

    Stars in 6 is good.

Wild in 7th seems high. I’d put the kings there.

VGK has already been placed on my list. I think the panthers should have some strong seasons, so cats go 8th.

Blues jackets are in the same boat as the wings/Sabres but worse because they haven’t proven shit. I do think the Sabres could get here though as they have been getting better. Sabres at 9.

Kings got the 7th spot. 10th is tough. Edmonton could be a good choice. NYR, sens, or lightning. I’ll go lightning just because they have some of the same core still around.

Hard to believe Detroit, Buffalo, and Columbus are all on there but Ottawa isn’t somewhere with them. They’re practically in the same situations.

  11. CaniacGoji

The absolute disrespect to the Avs, Leafs, and Oilers is astounding.

  12. itsmorecomplicated

Gosh, Canada has a zillion hockey fans and no Canadian teams are on this list…. could this be… HATE BAIT??

  13. puffjoey

Donald Duck is doing their sport predictions now.

  14. WackHeisenBauer

You put Buffalo and Detroit on there yet no Ottawa? Ottawa is arguably ahead of those teams in their rebuild cycle and miles ahead of Columbus (IMHO) and yet no mention. A slight bit out to lunch ESPN.

  15. ag-0merta

Having MN any lower than 1 is a damn disgrace. Show us some respect.

    /s

  16. martintinnnn

I think they went « the 10 AMERICAN teams » but forgot it from the headline… otherwise I don’t understand why the Oilers/Leafs and even Sens aren’t there.

  17. Otherwise_Awesome

I laugh about Detroit because they’re not exactly moving forward as much as they should have.

^(INB4 RW FANS SAY YZERMAN IS THE GREATEST AND HOLLAND LEFT THE TEAM IN SUCH A TERRIBLE SHAPE)

  18. Halcyon_FCS

Did I miss an injury report that MacKinnon, Makar, and Rantanen are no longer playing for Colorado?

  19. Pure_Palpitation_683

Take a screenshot and see you in 3 years.

  20. RoughNight1708

Drove from Cleveland to watch the Wings play the Caps. Ove and the rest of their first 2 lines weren’t there, but saw some solid stuff from the Redwings. Definitely not a contender this year, but maybe in 2 or 3.

  21. StoppageTimeCollapse

What are the Jackets doing on this list lmao

  22. Badgerdont

Tons of talent on the Sabres and Wings but I’m not a believer yet.

  23. taekwonjohn31

To not have the Lightning, Avs, Leafs, or Oilers is definitely bold. Is Detroit, Seattle, and CBJ absolutely loaded with great young talent that I’m missing? NJ, CAR, BUF, LA, DAL probably deserve to be there, but some glaring omissions for sure.

  24. jbeachley18

1 and 2 are fine, after that they were just guessing random teams. CBJ…seriously?

  25. Jak-the-Bruin

I can definitely say I think the top five teams, in order, should be New Jersey, Dallas, Buffalo, Minnesota then Carolina. Other than that they have solid picks

  26. soulslide

How is a team that boasts MacKinnon, Makar, & Rantanen not on this list?!

  27. Stockton20969

Anyone who thinks Detroit will be a top team in 3 years is out to lunch. Detroits roster is such a clusterfuck of random players.

  28. Unfunky-UAP

ESPN writers smoking crack thinking Columbus is anything but a shit show.

  29. FirstNameLastName918

Nothing I hate more than future projections. Nobody knows where people are gonna sign and how draft picks are gonna turn out… this shits just for clicks

  30. Rleduc129

ESPN: What the hell is Canada?

  31. flappypancaker

Colorado not being here is laughable haha who put this list together?!
