Nope, they’ve already said they don’t want to with his dad being a coach. They could have signed him and didn’t

  2. StoneColdCanuck

Maybe his dad can turn it around for him. Then again, his dad being here is probably the reason we won’t claim him.

I’ve been on the Cal Foote train for awhile now, but it seems unlikely that they would bring him in given Adam Foote is coaching.

Honestly though, he probably isn’t a meaningful upgrade on Juulsen. And Foote turns 25 in a couple months.

Side Note: Wonder if we see something like Jack Rathbone for JBD or something to that effect.

Conflict of interest, otherwise would be a good idea tbh.

    *Not claiming Cal Foote*

Ok mods, I see what you did 👀

I don’t see why having his dad here would mean we aren’t going to pick him up. His dad would probably be harder on him than anyone else on the team. ALSO RD

Might be better than the other options – might be.

Is he really better than Juulsen, Brisebois or Wolanin? Waiver pickups during training camp says a lot about how mgmt view the state of your roster.

Could work. Might work. Maybe. Free shrugs.

Also Jayson Megna available, no way we pass on that guy

If all these other teams don’t want him I don’t see why we would

In regards to the conflict though, I remember Brian Burke talking about Jeff Tambellini, and saying “just pretend his name is Jeff Smith and make the same decision you normally would” which seems like the best approach to this kind of thing

Why would we spend a roster spot on this guy when Stanley Cup Champion Jayson Megna is on the wire?!?!?

There are plenty of father/son coach/player tandems in sports but Adam Foote already has his hands full getting this D core on the right track. Avoiding any potential conflict of interest and/or drama is probably a smart idea. And if Cal is happy in NSH/needs more AHL development the Canucks would be aware of that too.

Look bro, I’m a bolts fan who also follows this sub. He’s not good. I’m not convinced he’s ever gonna be an nhl regular

Foote coached his kids in Kelowna for the rockets and it didn’t last long, he was let go.

I don’t know any specifics, but that alone don’t bode too well.

Lots if issues with a father coaching his son.

Man I always wanted Foote on the Canucks. Thought he would have been the perfect partner for Hughes when he was a new prospect
