They're so very good and they've been so impressive in this preseason but you didn't talk much on their defense and i for one, am very curious to see how they'll do without Damon Severson who was so crucial to their success last year. They'll be totally fine, much more than just fine actually, but maybe not exactly as consistent as they were with him around on defense. (Which shouldn't be an issue at all as they'll outshoot and outscore pretty much everyone)

Surprised Steve isn't liking Akira. Say what you want about his weird development path – he's performed very well no matter the situation has been infront of him. He wasn't great agianst Carolina, true, but the entire Devils team wasn't either. He has starter potential, and frankly I think it's silly to doubt that potential. He's been able to show out across every league he's played in. Very worst case, he's a 1B.
