Anyone think that this being in the works is at all related to the Moose deal? Needing someone to bring the energy and all that?
As much as he tears it up out there, I don’t really see KK97 as much of a leader in terms of personality. Perhaps he’s got that quiet confidence/lead by example thing that Spurge has going for him, idk.

Have to say I’m very surprised by this… I was with everyone else thinking that JEE was going to get it. I was waiting for it to be announced so I could get a JEE alternate jersey with the A on it. I’m not mad that they gave it to Kaprizov though. Hope it helps to further validate to him that he is a big leader on this team.

I think we all knew/think JEE deserved it.
But putting a letter on a sweater can be a motivator or a tool to tell a player « Hey, that « A » means you need to start taking control of this team not only on the ice, but off it. Go earn it every night. »
Maybe that helps a player get to the next level in the mental/leadership department.
And it doesn’t hurt when contract negotiations come up in a couple years lol
I would have out all my money on Ek being named alternate captain but ok.
I just feel Eker does not need the “A” to be a leader. This man gets his roll and will be just as hard to play against with out a letter on his sweater.

Why is everyone surprised by this. He had the A on his sweater the other night already.
Good for Kap. Much deserved. It will be nice having a high end producer with the reward of the alternative captaincy. Hopefully it drives the point home that we expect results from people that put on the green sweater and he is the example you try to live up to.
Little sad Ek didn’t get it but it’s totally understandable and either is a great choice. It doesn’t actually matter that much if you have a letter on your chest. Plus anybody who’s somebody already knows what’s up with Ek. And those that don’t figure it out pretty quick. Same with Kaprizov when he gets that possessed look in his eyes and nothing but multiple goals will cure him.
