There’s an element of truth in it, at least

  2. Lavs1985

That it’s unique? Yes. Him talking like this is up to NHL standards or their goal? No. That THEY built it? Come on, man!

  3. fcdemergency

I’d still love to see an away game there trashed, i bet its fun as fuck. But this reads like they’re in no hurry to find a new home…

  4. Otterslayer22

Nothing like it I. The nhl for sure

  5. phoenixember

I’m sure it’s cool seeing them play in a smaller and more intimate arena, but this team will never be competitive or profitable if they can only sell a few thousand seats per game. They’re only going to spend to the cap floor or just above it for the foreseeable future.

  6. Kappokaako02

ive been a few times, it is dope….not sustainable, but it is dope

  7. Comfortable-Ad-7158

Calling this good because it’s unique is like calling my third nut a good thing.

  8. that_madcow

    there’s definitely nothing like it… 😂

  9. AutomatedSaltShaker

Completely agree. I have been to multiple games.

Doesn’t matter if you’re a Yotes fan or a fan of the visiting team.

There’s no more intimate NHL hockey experience anywhere in North America. Period.

    Players love the ice conditions.

    Fans love the experience.

    No bad seats.

  10. sneakyfingers45

Seats 5k, all that needs to be said; if you’ve ever been to an ahl game, it’s similar to that

  11. Vic_Hedges

There’s plenty of college hockey experiences identical too it.

  12. TherealDJStryker

I mean.. every seat is Close to the ice I guess

  13. Calling__Elvis

100%. The players love the intimacy and ice quality. If only it was financially sustainable….

  14. NotMikeBabcock

Kind of seems like they’re going to try and stay in that barn… Reel bad for hockey.

  15. Footinthecrease

They did create this situation…. That’s true

  16. Greendaydude22

I say keep them in that arena forever! Cause then atleast I know the jets can never leave

  17. After_Carry2678

Like every community rink in the country

  18. BlueRFR3100

I agree that there is nothing else like it in the NHL. I’m skeptical about the claim that it’s special.

  19. Sufficient_Lynx_8039

We have a 2500 seats arena in my town, and junior playoff games have an amazing atmosphere.

Do I think we should house an NHL team? Absolutely not.

  20. LetsTCB

‘There is nothing quite like it in the entire NHL.’

Ya, franchises pay their bills and don’t get ousted by the city they were trying to play in. Even the garbage franchises aren’t failures like the Coyotes.

  21. cheeseburgerwaffles

Translation: we didn’t make any effort to find an actual legitimate arena to play in despite the fact that they exist all over the nation, so we’re going to half ass it and then put lipstick on a pig and only point out silver linings like « every seat is the best seat in the house  »

No shit dumbass. Every seat is great because you don’t have anything more than 20 feet from the ice. You’re playing in an arena smaller than some WHL arenas. You’re a joke.

  22. fastal_12147

There’s not a bad seat in my bathroom, either, but I won’t host an NHL game there. Unless…

  23. comacove

…yes, sure. but i’m not sure, under the circumstances, this is something to be proud of…

  24. Putthebunnyback

I mean, sure, it’s probably a unique experience. But it’s an amateur look.

  25. s3nsfan

I agree that there’s nothing like it in the nhl. I mean no team can compete at all with 6500 seats. I mean even the jets ~15k arena can’t touch that

  26. DCTX2017

Calling something ‘unique’ doesn’t make it necessarily ‘good’

  27. Sufficient-Cookie404

It took him over a year to come up with that. Remember that!

  28. LogieThePerogie

« Created something special » lol

  29. For a one-off game or a temporary solution? Sure. But this team has no arena deal. It’s an embarrassment to the NHL.

The Coyotes are like your friends 16 year old dog that’s blind, deaf, and has arthritis and should have been put down years ago and it’s obvious to everyone except the people who have the ability to actually put the dog down.

    It’s unreal. Move them.

(And for what it’s worth, I do think hockey can work in Phoenix, but not currently).

  30. _Retired_

« There’s not a bad seat in the house ». There is a lot of truth to that in these small arenas. I had season tickets to the Florida Everblades at Germain Arena (now Hertz Arena) – capacity is about 7000. There really is not a bad seat in the house. It’s kind of equivalent to the lower bowl of an NHL arena but 1/8 of the cost. I love minor league hockey because I can actually afford to attend games. The NHL is TV-only for me even though I’m closer to an NHL arena than the Everblades arena.

  31. tourt98

Created something special? His team is barely different than an OHL team in a similar sized arena. Ain’t nothing special about it

  32. There is truth to it. There is also truth to the fact that a team playing in a 5000 college arena is an absolute joke particularly when they don’t have firm plans for the next step. The Coyotes are crashing on their neighbours couch and claiming they created a great living space by buying themselves a pillow

  33. Cleets11

What’s he supposed to say our rink is to small and our organization is the laughing stock of the league?

  34. PBGO123

It’s so fucking foolish that the NHL will go to the ends of the Earth to keep this franchise in Arizona and allow shit like this to happen at the expense of better markets like Quebec City and Houston. Gary Bettman is a brainless fool.

”There’s not a bad seat in the house.” No shit bro. The stadium is literally smaller than AHL and ECHL arenas. Hell, the Tuscon Roadrunners, the Coyotes’ AHL affiliate, has a larger arena. This loser is trying to cherry-pick any silver lining he can in this shit situation.

  35. pippinsfolly

Pretty sure Bakersfield get more butts in seats than Arizona.

  36. Neat_Force9696

They providing lawn chairs or do I have to bring my own? Bring my own? Ok

  37. Shawnaldo7575

    Basically, he’s polishing a turd.
