>’I’ve come out and said, in terms of the pride jerseys and pride tape, it’s obvious that you want hockey to be an inclusive sport, so I have no problem with that, and a lot of my teammates have not had a problem with that.

>I think you’ve got to understand that there’s 700 players in the league. A lot of different opinions and stuff. But, I don’t know, it might be a little much to make a fine for guys using pride tape because you never know what’s happening in someone’s family or in terms of support.’

Whole team should come out with the tape and see what the league actually does.

Simplest way to do it is to allow it. Don’t force players to be involved. If they wanna be thats great, if not that’s their choice, and fine too.

There’s a lot of talk on r/hockey about “what if a player did it anyway and took a stand against the dumb rule” and listing people like Matthews and McDavid. If any star were to do something bold I’d place a bet on Jack.

Supporting something never seems to work. Seems more effective to use the same dumb arguments *against* other stuff just to make the point of how ridiculous a ban is.
Some players coming out against wearing military-themed gear because « we’re pacifists and this offends us » or « I don’t support rebels who attempt to overthrow the government so I’m personally offended by Star Wars nights everywhere and don’t want to see it »

I don’t blame the NHL, the whole pride movement has been a pretty slippery slope. Better to just not get involved at all.

Banning it is unequivocally the wrong move. If players don’t want to do the tape that’s fine, but fining guys who do? The league can go fuck itself.
