Not particularly, there are too many moving parts this season, so I think JBB is absolutely right to wait to see how this season plays out and what this team needs before committing top dollar to our oldest star.
Stamkos is bringing this to the media to put pressure on the front office, staying is clearly his first choice.

Yes. JBB is very cold and business minded, as expected, but that is certainly not what we need in this case. Stammer has sacrificed for this team. Stayed here when he could have left. Took less than he could have gotten elsewhere. He deserves what he wants and to stay in a Bolts sweater.
JBB needs to bend on this signing. Not Stammer.

No. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again – I’m actually happy our front office is taking a rational approach to all of this. Sure, we could’ve started negotiations this offseason and could’ve given Stamkos whatever he wants to make sure he retires as a bolt. In other words, do what the Penguins did with Letang and Malkin. For them it makes sense, cause they don’t have a team. Without their soon retiring core of Crosby, Letang and Malkin they would go straight to the bottom of the league and start a painful rebuild – a price to be paid for winning three SC with this core. For us, it’s different. We can’t put emotions over business, cause if we were to remove Stamkos and Hedman right now, we’d still have a competitive core, and it’s a rather young one, especially given that Kucherov’s playstyle is not exactly based on his physical abilities. It would be stupid and cruel to ruin this core’s future just to retire someone as the member of our team. Think of the guys like Cirelli, Hagel, Point, Sergachev, Cernak and others. They didn’t sign with us to be a nursing home when they are at their peak.
No one is saying we shouldn’t sign Stamkos and Hedman later, it’s just that these decisions will absolutely decide the future of this franchise and we have to make sure they are as rational as possible, and it will take time.

No. If it makes sense to keep him JBB will pay the man and if not he’ll let Stamkos sign elsewhere. The cap is likely to get up quite a bit so this offseason is pretty important for us and could set us up nicely for the future. I’d hate to lose Stamkos but JBB is going to do what’s best for team and I’m okay with that. I’ve already been through this mess with Freddie Freeman and the Braves. It is what it is.

No. But if he leaves, he leaves. Would love to see him retire here, but everyone is replaceable.

This isn’t new information, this is what JBB has been saying since media day. Stammer has been clear he wants to stay, and JBB has been clear he will give him *an* offer, just not during the season. If you want to worry about it feel free to, but you’re not going to get closure until the end of the season anyway, so I’m going to choose not to.
