Tage Thompson played only 16 :00, he led the team in shots and has 2 huge hits…Matthew’s of the Leafs played 24 minutes his first game and 19 minutes last game. Teams that won the last 52 Stanley Cups play their best scorers more minutes than bottom line guys. You can’t score on the bench. Why is this coach playing his very best player so little, he did the same thing last year at start of the season. Buffalo lost its last two games. Do you know how many extra shifts it is to play 24 minutes compared to only 16? Is Granato saving Tage for the playoffs? 😂
Tuch played 19 minutes last year, this year only 16. Are we tanking again!
We were def the better team in the second half. Although I will say Cozens looks really rough and so does our Top line and Clifton is a minus 3 which is not what we got him for. And that goal was definitely offsides in my opinion he did not have control. Overall the boys found their legs I think once we’re away from that BS trap style of Hockey I think we’re gonna be good
Devon Levi will be the future at net im almost convinced but hes not ready yet imo. That D is weak. They need to do something about that D. Maybe get another pure scorer. This team has progressed the past 2 seasons and i think they'll continue on that road. But they need some more. Hopefully by the deadline.
Tage, Tuch and skinner led the team in goals last year, 1,2,3, they also led all forwards in average icetime per game 1,2,3…so why are they playing much less? The team had a winning record last year, why change what was winning hockey
That was a high stick. He deflected it down and off the crossbar and in, hence the tip was above the crossbar. Also Clifton was tripped on the Isles first goal. We had 30 seconds of power play time for the whole game. The refs SUCKED
But we also sucked on faceoffs again and the top line is horrid right now. Cozens too.

Benson, Greenway and Middelstadt are not playing against the best shut down lines and best defensive pairings…they are playing against subpar defensive players. We don’t need Tage now, coach isn’t playing him at all anyways so trade him play greenway 20 minutes. Good luck having a winning record with him who’s played 400 games had 50 career goals. The fans saying Tage sucks he’s a bum is maddening

80-2 is still on the table. Cozens needs to get going. That line is missing QUINN !!!!!!!! mitts-greenway-benson is our best line no doubt. Levi played well 2 goals not his fault.

We gotta play defense. We let Levi get shelled in the 3rd and then that was it. It’s frustrating that the Islanders and so many teams cover the front of their net, but we can’t do that in front of ours.
The thing that frustrates me most is the fact that im watching other games and they look twice as fast as sabres games.. man i hope they start skating and getting hungry for pucks!!!

Something has to change. I know it's early in the season but Granato is not the man to lead this team to glory. Why the hell won't he give the top line, top line minutes?
How long will our coach continue to watch us get dominated in the face off circle? I don't know why many of our players try to win faceoffs on the forehand…it makes no sense..most face offs are won on the backhand or by using your body and/or stick to tie up the opponent and win a dirty face off, or at least not let them win it clean and get an immediate scoring opportunity- – our FOs sucked last season too. Granato and his staff have to address this!

The Islanders did not look old and slow. They turned it up a notch in the 3rd and willed themselves to a good win. We looked tired towards the end. I am worried about this next 4 game homestretch, wish we were going on a 10 game road trip. Seriously, who do you think we can beat right now in the eastern conference?

Faceoffs! This team is constantly chasing the puck because they are terrible at face-offs. Something like 3/22 on offensive zone draws. You're not going to get much offense when you can't get possession of the puck in your own end because you team as a whole sucks on face-offs. As for our friend Victor Olofsson…no shots on goal. Didn't notice him the entire game. Wouldn't have even known he dressed for the tilt. An absolute ghost tonight.

You’re right Wayne. We need wins at home early in the season. Tampa, Flames, Isles, and Habs we should go 3-1. We need to find our groove in terms of skating, goals, and defense. And stay as close as we can to .500 early on until then. Last year we out scored our problems many nights. We may not have that luxury this year.

The effort was better this time. Slightly more positives but still got the wrong side of the result. Time for those core guys getting the big bucks everyone says they deserve to start showing why. So far Benson and Greenway are giving way better efforts. Levi looked less wobbly too so hopefully he'll settle in now.

Guys last couple of years we have fast starters but after a month or so we’ve seen big regression maybe this year it’s the other way around where we start slow but come November or so we hit it off
Good effort in the 2nd and 3rd periods, but as much as I hate to say this, Donnie doesn’t seem to have them prepared to play this year. Not only the 2 games in the regular season, but also the last couple in preseason. Clifton looks awful, the defense is uninspiring and we only have 1 line clicking so far. Cmon blue and gold, you’re better than thus.
They say that this game is a game of inches and in these two games it sure was. While they would have earned the win a little more in this games than against the Rangers, if just a couple of the goals that hit the Posts in these last two games went in, we’d be talking about a 2-0 start instead of 0-2. Which just adds to the frustration. I’m confident that they’ll get this figured out very soon.
why i wanted adams to go out and get another top 6 guy, so we can dictate games offensively, and relief the thompson line. olofsson is a empty roster spot 5 on 5. we have lost two games, against teams who both played the same, both rangers and islander are sitting stationary in the neutral zone and leeches the game out of any speed, other teams is going to see this and gameplan sabres the same.
