I get the kadri hate, but Huberdeau despite not always looking the best is actually trying out there and is at least ppg

I personally think Huberdeau has been fine. Not 10.5 million fine, but he’s got 3 points in 3 games and plays like he’s giving it 100%.
However, these problems with Kadri aren’t new, they’re carried over from last season. He regularly just doesn’t seem to give a shit. He gives the impression that he got his cup, got his bag, then checked out. It’s frustrating because the fans all know that he’s capable of better than this.

Personally I don’t think either one is being utilized properly, they are both players that like to gamble and take offensive chances put em together with Mang or coronato make an all offence first line, Huberdeau had success in Florida playing with dudes who were fast and liked to fly the zone not 200 foot centres like Barkov
On a side not I think our 200 foot centre Lindholm has been worse than both players mentioned.

It just feels the same. Markstrom seems better and there are some young guys to get excited about but it’s the same. So maybe it’s fan overreaction but also it’s game 85 of an uninspiring on-ice product. Flashes of greatness don’t cut it either, we’ve been looking at those forever.
And I’m not throwing in the towel here, ups and downs are part of the game but we started the season on a down.

I’m gonna keep saying it until people listen, PDO. Learn it

It’s just far too early in the season to say anything of value. It’s pre-season +1 as far as what to expect from this team.
We went 3-0 to start last year.
These games haven’t told us anything other than *maybe* Markstrom will make more jaw dropping saves than last year (please god), and Coronato hasn’t disappointed.
Let the rest cook in the oven a bit longer.

i dont mind huberdeau honestly, he hasn’t been in florida form but at least he tries hard, kadri however seems to not have been trying since after the halfway point of the last season

I suspect the frustration is borne out of the realization that at best, the team is still stuck in the mushy middle. That they lack genuine game breaking offensive talent and that Huberdeau & Kadri aren’t as good the players they replaced (although they never were and it’s not their fault if the team overpaid them). Yes it’s still early and the Flames can very obviously still make the playoffs but are they really a bonafide cup contender?
The Flames seem to resemble the Stars prior to the 2017 NHL draft where they happened to luck out, won a lottery and moved up to third overall to take Heiskanen, used a second late first on Oettinger, and then took Robertson early in the 2nd round. That’s essentially 3 franchise players that completely turned around their trajectory; now if only the Flames could get that kind of luck.

factor in Coleman’s penalty shot and we went 0-4 in shootout situations. Horrid.

The overreactions are funny. We are 1-1-1, e.g., right on brand for another season of Flames hockey. Nothing new to see here.
