That second period was an absolute nightmare
Top 6 showing they can consistently put up multiple goals per night. This team gets any contribution from the bottom 6 and they’d look scary. Really hope Sully and Dubas are true to the philosophy of keeping the bottom 6 rosters spots competitive.
That hurt but not the end of the world. At least Karlsson played great.
Take the 2nd period off, you lose the game.
Still, absolutely amazing chemistry and magic of Karllson with our top guys is very encouraging.
Ok I know we lost but god damn I love the Erik Karlsson Experience^TM
They showed heart at the end I’ll give them that. A couple pucks bouncing different ways and this was a different game.
Absolutely by no means their best, PP needed to show up, but Jarry looked strong and these guys will find their rhythm together.
Karlsson looked like a beast.
Bad 2nd period and Husso made some timely saves. I hope the bottom six and 3rd D pair get some alterations made.
Fuck it, it was still a fun game though congrats EK
Glad EK got a goal. Refs can suck a fat one. Pens looked like they got a burst of give-a-fuck in the third, which was cool, but it would’ve been nice to see them get that and maintain it throughout. It’s like Geno scored and everyone packed it up for a bit.
There were times when the Penguins looked absolutely deadly and still could not figure out how to get the puck in the net. That was very frustrating.
Glad the boys fought back in the third. That second period gave me flashbacks to last year, though.
No bounce over Geno’s stick, Rakell actually buries 1, and fewer missed calls, and we’re probably in OT rn.
GG
Bottom 6 are an embarrassment, don’t score and soft, Rakell needs to wake up as well
The top six/stars are basically scoring 3 goals a game. Those guys are bringing it. The bottom six? Absolute loser shit from them. After four games with no goals from them you can start questioning effort. That just doesn’t happen if a genuine effort is put in by those units. Puustinen and Zohorna should slot in just to see what happens. Can’t be worse than watching Carter or Harkins have an on ice abortion damn near every shift. Fire Canada? Old tired. Boo’ing those two dudes along with Eller? Current and much needed.
I repeat: the game should’ve ended in a draw with Crosby and Karlsson kissing tenderly at center ice.
Harkins is giving me Mcginn vibes of last year. He’s not sandpapery enough to really shine in that role and he’s not skilled offensively enough to shine there either. He cost us absolutely nothing so it may it may be time to bring in Zohorna. You know… the guy who definitely earned a roster spot too.
Couple takeaways for me:
Love the tenacity from Crosby & Malkin
It’s an absolute pleasure watching Erik Karlsson play hockey. What a superstar.
Dylan Larkin’s face looks like he is avoiding paying his child support.
Wish Geno held that puck in the zone
Second period trash, but good fight in the 3rd.
Ruhwedel should only play when there’s an injury and he has to fill in. He’s not good enough to be an everyday player .
I know we still probably would’ve lost, but that first empty net goal was offsides
* Hate to pin it on one guy, but if Ruhwedel doesn’t spot them 3 goals, it’s a way different game. I’m pretty confident he won’t do that very often.
* Last game I said the points would come for EK. They did.
* The bottom 6 is a nightmare, and watching them makes me want to taste test a 9mm. Jeff Carter is legitimately playing the best hockey of anyone in that group, and holy shit is that a bad sign. Bring up Zohorna and Nylander. Have Harkins, DOC, and Nieto draw straws to see who gets scratched, and whoever it ends up being will have earned it.
2 and 73 are kinda bad
I have never been a Chad Ruhwedel fan and this game did not help his case.
Still waiting to see this new and improved bottom 6 get a point…
0 points from the bottom 6 again. 1 point and 0 goals through 4 games.
Unbelievable.
It’s not in their nature but if I’m in that top 6 or top 2 pairs I’m either questioning effort or starting a fist fight in the room
Bottom 6 was trash. Good looks from our stars.
Detroit and Ottawa are proving to be as advertised this season so far.
