Never doubt the Yzerman's Yzerplan.
Can't believe I'm saying this but both teams are exiting to watch
What surprised me was a couple of their power play goals were score roughly in the first 10 seconds
Doubt Stevie Y at your own peril‼️😁
HUGE 2 pts here today.
I told you, man. This roster is just different. This team doesn't have the same team mentality as the rebuild rosters did.
I'd say to early in the season, but Ottawa and Detroit forming a rivalry as they begin to become more competitive is awesome.
What's up with Raymond? Looking like he could be a bad pick, 3rd overall?
Stevie Yzerman has given the Red Wings a reason to be more confident.
It really is that simple. Now they FEEL like they could be contenders again and that mindset ALONE, will start culminating in success later this season when cohesion amongst all the players finalizes.
It can be as simple as one player making the difference?
Doubt that? Ask Boston Bruins what picking yo Bertuzzi felt like and what happened because of it.
I'll say what others won't. Bruins were phenomenal all season but for the playoffs they grabbed Bertuzzi for whatever reason ( clearly not a long term since he was gone the season afterwards) but they got greedy and brought one guy in and it completely resulted in a first round LOSS after such an epic season.
The Debrincat presence is what has given the team a more positive mentality.
Yzerman's not done yet either. Not by a long shot. Draft picks aside.. theres gonna be another trade coming soon. Under the radar trade but man oh man.. it will be like the new Kirk Maltby.
Im that confident.
You are so right about Veleno he's been really good so far and if he continues to play like this he will be key to getting the Wings to the playoffs.
I love the start but I don’t want to get my hopes up
You should make a video once a week on “games to watch” for the upcoming week.
I liked the Sens game Korpi just threw it away wish Forsberg started Husso was good, Sens controlled the play so not concerned on the Sens side was a good win for Detroit though that PP call on the Greig hit really threw the Sens off their game but they gotta learn to bounce back
Although outshot, it looked pretty close 5v5. The difference was special teams dominated by the wings. 50% on the PP is insane.
Would love hearing game recaps, especially about Wings games
Watching this game absolutely sucked, the sens went so far downhill after a dominant first period
So happy
Fuck detroit
The Wings need a new heated rivalry. Hopefully Sens can be that. I agree that the Sens might be a tick better than the Wings despite today, but the Wings are looking good. Great episode.
would be cool if veleno has a breakout season this year, he went to my class last year (bc he used to go to my school) and seemed like a super chill and down to earth guy. Ironically, this was the week before he went to the world championship and well, we know what happened 😅
Sens absolutely rubbed the Red Wings face in the dirt last season. Winning all but 1 game.
Ottawa has had huge amounts of lottery luck compared to Detroit. So yeah they should be ahead in their rebuild.
Didn't watch but Larking with 2 primary assists and a goal on PPG is just incredible. Hope Detroit can stay good at powerplay this season!
One of the 2 games I attended at LCA last yr was a loss for the Wings. Time for The Big Payback! EDIT: A loss against OTT.
No that cat hit was definitely roughing. Hands to the face and he was in a vulnerable position.
Sens fan. This game was legit. Husso was the difference.
Not even suprised, Keep on adding players Who Specialize in what your not getting done players start to get to do both what helps and what they do best. People forget, there are no "roadcones" outthere skating in the NHL. I think the talent is robust enough that the bottom team is no more than 3-4 Major changes from being as good as any team! It's a Fine line. Immagine you could change 3 things you choose about your team is it possible they win after? Wings 1 Heeled injurys, 2 More Shots, 3 Depth.
Love that you’re trying new video ideas! For future recap type videos maybe have some graphics comparing the stats from each team? Makes it easier to keep track of while you’re talking. Either way, keep experimenting!
This sent a message.
This was an enjoyable game (save for some of the penalty calls made) and I'm looking forward to a lot more of this, not only for the rest of this season, but in the years to come as well
would enjoy you doing game recaps
Maaaan I saw so many Sens fans online talking that shit then get reeeeal quiet during the second.
This is not last seasons team. The Wings are for real. Your analysis is BS.
Dude, what did you watch? He grabbed cat by his throat and threw him. C'mon man
Congrats buddy, as a fan of a team who's been through a tortuous rebuild (Devils), welcome back to relevance. Let's have some of those old battles from the 90's in this era, lol
It's about time the Wings developed a rivalry. I feel like we had been lacking that since joining the Eastern Conference. We have the Original 6 but this is different. We're just in the beginning of this. Both teams vying for a playoff spot now…in a few years, it could be both vying for the division!
Refs say it is their year.
No one outside of Detroit cares and you cares about the Red Wings. They stink anyway.
As someone who has reffed/umped multiple sports, I would have called that penalty on Greig as well. Had he just shouldered DeBrincat into the glass, maybe taken a bit of a run at him, I wouldn't have batted an eye. But he grabbed DeBrincat's left shoulder with his left hand and twisted him, intentionally turning his face towards the incoming shoulder, and dangerously knocking him off balance. It was clearly Ottawa trying to send a message that if let go could have led to this game getting out of hand really quickly.
Ottawa was running on 100% feelin's last night and it showed in every aspect of their game. Knowing they are a better team than that, you might notice a trend develop, where Ottawa and high emotion games = losses. Emotions as a player can be one of two things. Motivation, or blinding.
Which begs the question of, is this what Stevie was trying to avoid by bringing in the veteran players he did? Fans need to remember that development does not stop just because you get to put the jersey on. That development continues THROUGH those veteran players, so the "attitude" and temperament of those veteran players is absolutely instrumental, more-so than their current stats are in all reality, because these kids already know how to play, or they wouldn't be there. Once fans wrap their mind around that, they will start to understand Yzerman's plan a little better because success in the playoffs is ALL ABOUT controlling emotion.
Stage 1: Clear out contracts and regain cap money.
Stage 2: Fill prospect pool through drafts; while simultaneously trying to improve current team through trades/free agency.
Stage 3: Create established solid young core group; while simultaneously trying to improve current team through trades/free agency.
Stage 4: Having an established young core group, and established veteran mentoring group.
Stage 5: At point in growth were stranger things have happened than your team making it into the playoffs. >> WINGS ARE HERE <<
Stage 6: Team expected to to make playoffs consistently.
Stage 7: Expected to make playoffs, realistic cup contender.
Most teams during a rebuild strip down to the core, be it veteran or youth, and start over. Yzerman didn't even have a core to start with.
I predicted 20+ goals for veleno before the season. He has all the potential in the world, I just hope he keeps it up.
Shut the senator’s power play down! Even if the zebras gave them more chances “no difference “ the wings were definitely the better team today.
This is a total Red Wings Rebuild coming to Fruition!! Suck It up!!
Need more of these!
I'm a leafs fan but I really enjoy the red wings game recaps, it would be cool if you did them more often
