The NHL definitely needs to market their stars more, but they need to lay off the gas a little bit. There are other great players who they can focus on, including a few who have more compelling personalities than Bedard.
Once Bedard actually starts producing like we know he’s going to, *then* I think the league can start going apeshit about him. Right now I think they’re just annoying other fan bases and putting too much pressure on the kid.

I don’t mind highlighting him: showing hype videos, etc. because this is the league marketing a new young star. But I think media in general has to get the mics out of his face. At this point you can tell how annoyed he is answering the same dumb questions all of the time. He is a hockey robot. He will never say anything interesting and that’s something that they just have to realize.
I laughed at that dumb piece ESPN did before the season opener with him and Crosby in full pads having the worlds most forced conversation. Tough to find two guys who could care less about that kind of stuff than Bedard and Sid.
Show his skill, stop trying to force sound bites in pointless interviews.
